Spouse Visa - Greek

Hi,
Im wondering if there is anyone else out there applying for an offshore spouse visa from Greece. I've done quite abit of reading we're not quite ready to apply yet, but the lowdown is I'm Australian and my husband is Greek, we currently live in Greece, I cannot find anywhere to get the police check done or the medical and Im also wondering if Greece is considered a high risk country?? Also as we don't live in Australia and are moving together- does this complicate matters??
Any advice is welcome! Thanks

Hello Mrs G and with the numbers of Greek descendant people in Australia, particularly Melbourne which apparently is reputed to have more Greek descendants than even the third largest Greece city, I'd not be too surprised if there are plenty of Greek visa applicants about but you may be a first for here.

Have a look at http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/_pdf...-checklist.pdf the Checklist btw being a most invaluable document and scroll to bottom of last page and links to Police and Health are there, the relevant pages having a paragraph re locations/addresses.

I haven't checked but I'd suspect Greece is not a high risk country [ despite current economic turmoil ] , it being a EU member.
It is on the ETA list - ETA (Visitor) (Subclass 976) and that's a good indicator for LR countries.

Moving to Australia together only means your husband will have to have a visa granted that allows him to travel and some people post about possibilities of putting an application in and then travelling on another visa such as an ETA.
That is possible if you wanted to move earlier and then take a trip to NZ for instance to allow the visa to be granted but seeing as you're married, there is no 12 months relationship requirement and once you have the police and health checks underway [ if you want to do them before requested ] and you have all your other information together, do the application form correctly [ use the Checklist and an additional application form for a dummy run ] and get it in, you may find that you'll not have too great a wait.

Hi Mrs Greek, i was just wondering how you went with finding a doctor who is registered to complete the medical required for you husband? and if you can have the medical done beofre lodging your application? I am an Australian living in Greece with my partner of 3 years who holds greek residency but isn't a citizen. I am finding its ridicilously difficult to proove our living status as we live on an island without a rental contract/ official address etc. any help or advice you could give me and vice versa would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rachel

Hi Rachel,
We have already done the medical, the Berlin website states that you are able to before you lodge the application, but the Doctor will send it for you, they won't run the risk of the results being 'tampered' with. You will have to go to Athens for the medical, just check on the visa website under Panel Doctors, we went to Doctor Teale, nice guy- But I can't find his number right now! Also don't get the medical done until your pretty ready to send the application, he can't hold it for very long.
As for the living situation, I know it's hard, we live on an island as well but the house is owned by my husbands parents, we still don't have a valid address either, I spoke to the Berlin embassy and they explained you must have a valid POSTAL address (maybe a friend? work? check with the embassy to be sure), you are able to just put down your village, greece, postal code for residence but you cannot leave that question blank. I know rentals are different here, can you get the land lord to write a letter for you? Did you live together outside Greece? I freaked at the same thing but they were pretty understanding, we got his parents to write a letter, there isn't much else we could do :-)
I hope that helps, let me know if there are any other questions I can help you with.
