Don't worry, it's only been a month since you applied, that's "nothing", unfortunately.
I believe my status has never changed until the grant, it was always on "processing" and now on "finalised".

Apologies in advance, but I need to vent!! Starting to feel a bit downhearted about this whole process...my partner and I have been waiting now 16 months, we applied 30th September 2013. And as yet we have had no contact from DIBP apart from a couple of replies to emails I have sent in the last 6 weeks requesting updates on the status of our application, simply saying they are currently processing September applications and I would have a case officer assigned this month (which clearly hasnt happened). I am from the UK (low risk), my partner and I had been living together 12 months at the time we applied for our 820 (defacto), we had also registered our relationship. Our application is about as simple as it gets, neither of us have children or have been married or defacto previously so I just can't understand what is taking so long?! Especially when I see other people on here getting their visas granted after only 10 months, yet they still claim the applications are dealt with in date order. We got engaged in July last year and are getting married in august so I was really hoping to get the visa granted soon so we wouldn't have to worry about it anymore and can focus on our wedding plans. I've been so patient this whole time but now it's just becoming a bit of a joke - please tell me someone else on here is in the same position waiting this long??!

i am in the same boat as you, my friend

i submitted my application on the 29th of OCT 2013 and until now, no replies at all from DIBP. the only email i got is the acknowledgement email and the request for police check from my home country, Malaysia.,

like you, i'm from Malaysia (also low risk country), have been in a defacto relationship for close to 3 years (short of 2 months only) when i applied back in 2013. now, our relationship has reached close to the 5 years mark.

mine is also a straightforward application, no prior marriage or kids.
partner has a very stable job, no financial difficulties at all.
decision ready application. the only thing missing is a yes from DIBP.

so, i really understand how frustrated you are right now,...
especially, seeing that they are some applications which are granted in less than 12 months where as you have waited and waited and waited patiently.... and still no grant

i felt the same way too. i'm angry! i'm frustrated! i'm just sick of it all!

But.....
there really is nothing we can do.
even though DIBP said that the visa grant is according to the application date, this is clearly not the case, as yours and mine are still not granted yet even after waiting > 15 months.

Davyt got his grant after waiting for close to 16 months and his situation closely mirrored ours.

so, i really hope our application is very close to being granted too.

hang in there , you are not alone.

i am in the same situation as you are.
maybe there are also other members here who have waited > 15 months.

so, do not give up hope. if we have waited so long for our 820, God will let us have our 801 in the shortest time possible.

that is what i keep on telling myself to keep my sanity.

please hang on and we can always keep encouraging each other!

Angry

So glad I'm not the only one!

I think it's down to them bringing in the online applications so soon after we applied - it seems they are dealing with those applications much quicker, whilst the paper applications are being left to sit in a pile. Great for the online applicants but sucks for us!

Yes I saw Dayvt got his granted recently - that gave me a lot of hope as we applied same day and DIBP had told me I would have a case officer before the end of jan...I think I'm just even more disappointed now after getting my hopes up that that has come and gone and still no grant.

It's just so easy to start thinking negatively and worry that it's not going to get approved we're trying to make plans for our future - marriage, house and eventually kids and there's just this damn visa still holding us back...soo frustrating!

adm6 I'm really shocked that you are still waiting given your circumstances...as you've said...the "dealing with applications in order" is nonsense...I lodged a paper application Dec 2013 and it was granted late May 2014!!

When you lodged your application what processing time were you quoted? 9-12 months or 12-15?

Either way you have now gone beyond the timeframe you were quoted at time of application and you are allowed to start making official complaints about the time this is taking!! Have you lodged an official complaint form? I found this very useful when I had my issues with lost BVB application....

Feedback – About our Service

really hope you hear something soon!! planning a wedding with the DIBP induced uncertainty hanging over your head is no fun.

We were originally quoted 9-12 months, although I was already aware it was more like 12-15 at the time we applied. Now 16 months on I really have had enough of waiting. I also lodged a complaint when I applied for a BVB to actually get a quick reply from them and whilst I had been trying to be patient about it, it's just gotten to the point now where I don't think I can just sit back and wait much longer. Especially with the wedding coming up - I know it (hopefully!) won't happen, but I'm so paranoid we're going to get the visa refused and I'll have 28 days to leave Australia!
