Congrats adm6 . Did they atleast say why it took so long?

Atleast it shows lodging a complaint does help.

On the plus side just over 6 months till you apply for your 801.

2 things that people usually attach is wills and super listing the other partner as a beneficiary.

Other things are any joint purchases you have ie. House, car, washing machine etc.

Thank you!! No explanation, they are still insisting they have been dealing with applications in date order.

PARTNER VISA (820) GRANTED TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!

I submitted a formal complaint on Sunday asking for an explanation as to why we had been waiting over 16 months for our visa to be granted. I then got a phone call from the immigration complaints department yesterday to let me know that our application had been assigned to a case officer and I should expect to hear from them by Friday or at the latest Monday.

But THEN - got a phone call TODAY from our case officer, to say that she had granted our visa and wanted to check that I had received the email with grant letter!!!! She also said that as we had supplied all the necessary information and evidence that it was a very easy decision

I'm still in shock and shaking - I can't believe its finally been granted! Feels like a dream..!

Thank you all for all your support, its made the wait so much easier knowing there were so many others in the same boat. Good luck to all that are still waiting!

APPLIED: 30th September 2013
GRANTED: 5th February 2015
OMG! So happy for you!

congrats! you are not in a dream! you got the visa!

now, you can plan your wedding happily knowing that one huge part of the visa journey is completed.

from what you said, it seemed that your case is very straightforward. the CO should have granted it to you a few months back....
talk about incompetency
what makes it worse for them is they still insisted it was according to the lodgement date ? what a bunch of BS!

all it takes is just a few days. i just do not understand how can they make people wait so long for something so simple??

i should definitely lodge a formal complaint too. better tell my lawyer immediately about this.

may i ask how did you lodge the complaint? is it via their email ?

looks like your police check and medicals are still valid even after 16 months.i did a new police check just in case but not the medicals yet. hopefully, i did not have to redo it.

anyway, i apologize for ranting here.

this is your moment. you should savor it! you definitely deserve the visa after waiting for so long.congrats again!
