HI.
I and my partner applied for 820, August 2014 just before my 5 years student visa end and brigade visa grand next few days later than. I haven't hear anything since than, no mail or call for extra information . i didnt left any gap on forms, police checks were done and health examination too when 820 will grand ? and what i need to do for 801? any document should i need to collect? if u write down something for 801 I will be really happy Thanks |
820 applications are expected to take 12-15 months, so you still have some time to go. If you've provided everything they need to make their decision, you may not hear anything unless they want the police checks or health checks re-done (they expire after 12 months which may happen before the visa is granted).
For the 801 visa, you are eligible to submit your documents for this 2 years after applying for the 820 visa (so August 2016). You can find other threads that talk about the 801 visa stage, which will give you ideas about the evidence needed. For most people, they provide similar information as the 820 but only covering the 2 years since applying for the 820. |
Hi all,
We applied for our 820 defacto in mid Jun 2014. We submitted medical at time I application, but not police checks. 2 weeks ago (13 March) we received out first contact from DIAC stating out application had been passed to brisbane and if we had medicals or police checks to do them now. It was a standard form email, do not reply, no caseworker or any specific info. We already had UK police check so we applied for Aussie check 16 March. It arrived this Wed 25 March and I submitted in the evening (after business hours.) Today we received an email - visa granted! So all in 9 months, never received a caseworker. So happy as I thought we might have troubles!!! Yay!!! |

Congrats JCB8! Time to celebrate!
I find it amusing that on 12 March I got the email saying my case was sent to Perth and I applied from Brisbane. |

I'm the sponsor, but I'm American with Aussie PR (I was sponsored in 2005.) I was previously eligible for citizenship but ended up going overseas for a year, so I'm waiting for eligibility again now. To be honest I thought my background would make things sticky but there seemed to be no issues! My partner is English, so low risk country. We are defacto - living together (at time of application) for technically just less than 12 months (he was on WHV) but we registered our relationship. (We are in QLD.) All in all I can't believe that it came through in 9 months. My application felt very disorganised, I thought for sure they would require additional info. |
