Hi dinkum,

I lodged at Sydney. Seems like a busy office!

Thanks. We lodged decision-ready with medicals & police clearances in July 2013, also to the Sydney office. The DIBP website currently shows the processing time to be between 6 and 8 months. So all our fingers and toes are crossed.

Yes. Here is the link to the 'Family Visa Processing Times' page on the DIBP website.
It's 6 months for low risk countries and 8 months or high risk.

Family Visa Processing Times

Hope this helps.

The page you linked to is their service standard but they aren't meeting those timeframes and I think that's why they have that special note in the screen capture I did above. Very unusual for 6-8 months

Thanks. Your page was reviewed on 26 February 2014, so it's up-to-date. The service standards page I gave you was reviewed last on 14 February - so it's also pretty up-to-date. The two pages seem to contradict each other a bit. But I have noticed some 820's being granted under 8 months on this site. But also some taking 13 months and longer. We just have to be patient I guess.

Yeh, that's it. Just be prepared for the longer wait I guess....don't expect 6 - 8 months then you won't be disappointed.

I think the page you linked to is their target timeframes but they admit they aren't meeting them. They told me in person 13 - 15 months when I was in the Brisbane office last week.

And we are low risk! Yet there are people who get it in a few months. Very random!

BTW... that special note was not shown on the introductory page when we applied last July, so maybe that is the average processing time for applications lodged more recently... or maybe there have been lots of complaints so they decided to be up-front and honest. But it still seems strange that they appear to have such an unrealistic service standard.
