SC 300 - 820 is quick only a couple of months.
if you are applying for your first visa SC 820 then the wait is currently 18 months on recently released standards.
you will have a bridging visa in the mean time if your current visa expires. Dont take medicals or obtain Police checks too soon or they will expire

Thanks. We applied in Sydney too. July 2013. Nothing received from DIBP except the acknowledgement email. So happy for you. Enjoy Oz.

Now that I have seen some of the waiting times on here, I am starting to regret front loading our application with the medicals and the police checks.

I agree. We did our checks initially but will probably have to repeat them.
