Hi everyone

Our 820 got approved today! We applied on the 11th of October 2014.

We were recently contacted by our case officer to provide the AFP (we overlooked this and sent in a different police clearance form).

We sent it in today and the approval just came through!

After 13 months of absolutely no contact, we finally got a call yesterday from Perth requesting confirmation of an information regarding my application.

I have been asked to provide a police record which I did not know I needed. They have told me that once I send that through, they are ready to approve my visa. I was so excited and relieved (and also had the most awful day + running on very little sleep) I started crying on the phone to my poor CO !!

Everything is finally happening, we got engaged 2 weeks ago and now this. We are over the moon !!!!

Hang in there everyone, the memory of a long wait and worry will disappear in just a second as soon as you receive that call / email

Thanks, I guess continue to keep track of joint accounts, mortgages, photos etc as evidence that you relationship is still on going!

Or are we supposed to look for a job with a Bridging visa grant notice on which is written: "This bridging visa is not in effect because your E-visitor visa is currently in effect. When your Bridging visa (class WA) is in effect, you will have full permission to work and study."??
Thank you in advance for your reply
I didn't get an email to say my bridging visa was in effect. In interviews I've had to explain the situation. I've mostly only been able to get temp jobs and employers aren't keen on a visa that relies on my relationship. It can be disheartening but I just keep trying and trying. Hopefully in a couple of years when I get my 801 permanent it will be easier!

Enjoy the waiting game!

When your BVA kicks in you can go onto VEVO and print off a copy of your BVA Visa status that shows its active and that there are no work and study conditions. That's the easiest thing to do.

My 820 visa was just granted yesterday (Yay!)

thought I would share my timeline in case anyone else applied around the same time as me:

15 Sept 2014- applied online onshore for 820

radio silence for 13 months....

1 Oct 2015- contacted by dept for police checks, medical, character assessment, etc.
9 Oct 2015- Had my medical with Bupa in Sydney- very streamlined and easy process (although costs a couple hundred bucks). Results posted directly onto my immiaccount when I checked about a week later.
28 Oct 2015- returned police checks & character form
27 Nov 2015- got email out of blue that visa was approved.

All up about 14 and a half months from application to 820 granted.

In case anyone here is American, my first fingerprints for my FBI background check were conducted here in Australia at my local police station and were rejected (so annoying and a waste of $100!). I had mine done in the USA while visiting home in late July- I received my clearance Oct 27, so the websites's estimation of 13 week waiting period was dead on.

Good luck to everyone else!
