I agree. I watched ours for ages.
Sponsor "submitted", changed to finalised after a few months but applicant stayed on "application received" until the visa was granted.

Did anyone else get an email today saying the following?

"URGENT: Your application has progressed in the queue and is due to be processed shortly."

Given that it is the first of the month, I get a feeling this is one of those generic emails to everyone that I have heard about. My partner submitted her application at the end of July 2015 so we are expecting at least another few months to go at least before we actually hear something.

Hey, I received the same email today as well. I submitted my online application in mid-July, so sounds like they're getting ready to do the batch from that time frame.

Something I noticed though, in the email it says to have forms 40sp and 80, but the document checklist on the DIAC website says for those to be completed if it's a paper application. Can someone please confirm that 40sp and 80 are/aren't required for online applications?

Thanks!

From my understanding (so someone else correct me if I'm wrong), the Form 80 is not required unless your Case Officer requests for it. I err on the side of caution though and would suggest having one filled out just in case. The travel history part should be done and dusted at least because they ask for that in the actual application anyway.

The Form 40SP however I'd say that is a definite requirement. That is the sponsor's side of the application. If you did it online, it shows in the sponsor's IMMI account as "Sponsorship for a Partner to Migrate to Australia (300,309/100,820/801)".

Smile 820 Granted!!

Hi all,

I've been a long time follower of this thread and I thought I would share with you some good news. My wife's 820 visa was granted today after 9 months of waiting!!!

We submitted a decision ready application online with medical checks completed within 1 week of submitting along with all police checks from Vietnam and Australia done within the first two weeks of submitting.

Visa submitted online on the 02/07/15 and 820 granted on the 01/04/16 :-)

We attached:
Form 80, marriage certificate, photos of us together and with family and friends (around 15 total), invitations from friends to weddings and events, 6 months worth of joint bills and bank statements, plane tickets from our honeymoon, 2 x Form 888 statutory declarations, copy of passports/birth certificates, police checks + my super statement with her as beneficiary.

Good luck to all still waiting...today is a good day

Cheers,
Chillylounge

I got one too!! Almost thought it was a cruel April Fool's Joke from my immigration lawyer when he forwarded me the letter. I also applied in July 2015 (15th) and was pleasantly surprised to get the letter so soon.

I know it's a generic e-mail ensuring that our application will be decision ready by the time they look at it but it's still rather exciting.

I now have to wait for my lawyer to give me my HAP ID and apply for the AFP police check (I haven't lived overseas in the past 10 years so no overseas police check for me. yay!)

Hey everyone, just a question that I can't actually find a proper answer anywhere.

I am on my BVA waiting on 820, never had a driver licence before. Anyone knows if I can apply for the L's and start raking my driving lessons in NSW whilst on a BVA?

Thanks
