My 820

Hi all, *** Edited date***

Long time Lurker- and you all have helped me so much.. I just want to let everyone know that I was just approved! I applied November 15th 2015 in Melbourne and was asked for a police check On February 28th this year. Submitted my Police check last night and this morning I was approved for my 820.

I understand the stress and anxiety, the waiting game was horrendous but there is a light to the tunnel. I also wanted to quickly mention that I did not use a lawyer and submitted every document myself, reading through these posts is the reason I got through!

Good luck x

Thank you everyone for everything x

Hi Everyone,

I filled in my form 80 a while ago, but after not hearing anything for almost 14 months now I'm getting a bit nervous. One of the questions I think they might have a problem with is question 47, where they ask for a list of personal contacts in Australia. At the time I just filled in my partner, but now I realise we were also supposed to give 'friends and aquaintances'. I find this a little bit ridiculous, because I've lived in Australia for almost 5 years and have met a lot of people since moving here.... and they expect me to fill in the given names, date of birth, city of birth, address, phone numbers etc of all the people that I know here? That can't be, and I wouldn't expect everyone to give me all this information either.... how did other people handle this?

I provided them with about 100 people......

Just toying with you 😈 - I gave my cousin and one of my colleagues/friends as people in Australia.

Thank you for this information MiaDee, and congratulations! So you waited almost 2 years for the 820 approval? That is insane! This means you can apply for 801 this month?

If you applied 15 March 2015 for your 820 as you said above, then your eligibility date for 801 is 15 March 2017...

Hey everyone,

Another longtime lurker here, and with good reason i guess, as me and my partner applied 24 March 2016 after which literally nothing happened. UNTIL TODAY.

the DIPB provided us both with a minor heart attack when my partner had a missed call from them, which turned out to involve a discrepancy in our addresses... An email with a copy of our lease would solve this, so my partner immediately sent the files over.

Three hours later I received and email WITH THE GRANT OF MY VISA????!!!!!!!! Guess the address situation was the last hurdle or last issue they had to resolve.

Sorry if this is a mess i'm mildly intoxicated from celebrating, but here's some practical info:

Applied: 24/3/2016

Medicals: September 2016

Police checks AUS and NL: Jan 2016

No contact whatsoever (no generic emails, no nothing) from DIPB until todays call re: address.

No form 80 uploaded or requested.

To anyone who is still waiting, keep it up, when it rains it pours apparently.

Based on their response above you, I think they meant to put November 15 ha ha. Probably looked at the calendar, and got it confused with this month.

Congratulations Bas! Do you know which office processed your application? Just checking if it's a different one to mine, because I applied in January 2016 and have had no contact whatsoever.... I'm looking forward to celebrating once my application goes through as well

Hi Guys,

Im new to the site, great to read such a useful information! I have applied for my partner visa on 12 Feb 2017, registered my relationship (same sex couple) and now waiting, I was lucky enough to have voluntarily cancelled my student visa (was a bit of trouble but at the end was ok) and went to immi office in Sydney to get my bridging visa E, the officer was so nice that granted me full working rights on the spot. So I guess from now on, save money while waiting and travel around Australia until my temp visa is approved.
