Maybe you'd be ok to wait until the holidays if they're not far away anyway and if they do contact you before then, you can just let them know you've got them booked. How difficult is it for you to get to Perth?
You could be right...if they are checking out everything, then it might take them a little bit to process your form 80. But, it's definitely good news they asked, as it means they are getting ready to finish your visa!

Perth is a 3 1/2 hour drive one way. So we have to either do a crazy long day, or plan a hotel and all that. Since it has to be during the week, I'd have to take off work (I'm a teacher) and pull the boys out of school for the day. I'd rather avoid that if possible. At this point, I'm planning to wait unless I get an email asking for them. I'm really hoping they ARE processing my visa, as that would be amazing!! Should I go ahead and organize appointments now, since I'm looking at about 3 weeks from now to do them? Or is it something I have to do within a week of booking?

It might be different in Perth but in Melbourne you can only book about 5 days in advance.

Ok, good to know. That's what I was wondering, as I've seen a few people post that they had to make their appointments within a week. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and print out the hap id pages and all that? I haven't done it, as I thought I would have to wait until I'm ready to make the appointments...

I believe there is an "offshore" thread. This is the onshore 820 thread. But you can probably still get a lot of great information here, as most things are the same.

You can only apply 5 days in advance to do medicals at the centre in perth So online you set the appointment within the week you are going.

Been awhile since I have posted to this forum, but I applied October 20,2016...It's only been 5 months since I have applied, but its been a very LONG 5 months lol. I hate waiting. Only thing I need to do is my medical which I have to go to Perth for, and thats a 2 1/2 hr drive, so I am waiting until they ask me too, Cause I can then have it done in that week. I have managed to find a job while awaiting residence. I am happy for that! Although I usually work in finance, but none of the banks will hire me yet on my VISA. I keep getting turned down, but I do have faith that when I get permanent residence or even temp. they will hire me! I didn't do form 80, but I dont mind doing it if they ask. It's just so repetitive that I didn't see the point since they dont require it for everyone and it wasn't on the must haves.

Good luck to everyone waiting and congrats to all who have been approved!

Thanks for that! Ok, I'll just wait until the holidays and then do it.
