It doesn't even matter if it's both your names necessarily. If the electricity comes to you and the water goes to her at the same, that's a good start but the more that comes to both of you the better.

It's a really unnatural thing to do really when you're forced to do things like that that normal people just don't consider (who really gets both people on the bills?).

I'd recommend using your joint account for as much as possible as well. Our joint account just so happens to be my only account in Australia so you don't have to go that far but if you pay for a range of things from it (groceries, meals out, cinema, holidays, clothes) etc, it looks better than just the occasional grocery shop.

That's really good advice, Arabella! Thank you :-)

Although we never worried about me transferring her money for rent, utilities, etc .... rather we balanced it out thru me paying for activities, meals, etc. I am considering transferring half of what she's paid in rent the last 5 months in to either her individual bank account or perhaps to our joint account, then the description on the bank transfer say "rent Oct - Mar" to show that official financial relationship. As I said, we're moving out in a couple weeks now and going overseas for a few months, so we sort of missed out on the opportunity to get us both on bills. Getting the joint bank account last week was a good first start 5 months into the de facto and we have/will had our names on heaps of holiday travels .... but I agree we need a lot more. It's too bad all the pictures, social media posts, holiday travels, etc don't hold more weight .... I've been reading how hard immigration judges applicants on financial tie-ins. We need to do better because we're fully committed, but just need better paper trail organization.

It's stuff that you would never naturally do unless you know you need to so it's not surprising that you don't have that paper trail!

Hi everyone!

I applied last April, 7, 2016
Briding Visa granted on April 8, 2016
Generated email sent on February 26,2017 if all listed requirements/documents were submitted.

Case Officer emailed me asking for my AFP CHECKED-March 24,2017
My husband got a call from IMMIGRATION OFFICER but he missed it and she called me, again asking for my AFP. Hehehe... Anyway, they just want to finalized my application she said. I told her that since we submitted our application i have another set of joint bank accounts and also photos the last 10 months that I wanted to submit. But the Officer told me, 'no no just email me your AFP in colored copy and that is all we need from you!"
Makes me feel that my application is very positive. And yes i have to be patient and be positive like how i was the whole time (11 months). When i got home today i got my AFP CHECK on mail box; lucky me :-) and will scan and send it to them! Who knows i might get my result tomorrow or this week.

As always, we have no choice but be patient and be positive. Goodluck to us all!

Hi Scorpiogirlph, I reckon it would be best to upload new documents. We are goin to open a joint savings account soon, merely for paying bills then in a year or so it will be uploaded too to show them that we are still together and in genuine relationship. Future family engagement, wedding invitation and photos will be added too. My thoughts are to keep them updated since the process is too way long and might as well get straight to 801. Just hoping, fingers cross!!!!

Yes that is very beneficial for you to have a joint account with your partner.I got the generated email last February 27 and they emailed me last 21st day of March asking me to submit my AFP Check, that's the only one that I did not give them as i was waiting for them to request it from me. It is actually the Case officer already who emailed me and only requesting for my AFP check. And because i only applied for my afp last week, the case officer called me again today to our landline and my father n law asnwered it that i was at work, then she called my husband and my husband was on board meeting room..hahaha and finally called my number and she told me i just need to email my afp check to finalize my application so they could give me their response. I informed her that i prepared and printed our latest joint accounts and photos the last 10 months to show genuine relationship but she told me,"no no no, all you need to give us is just your AFP CHECK and all good!" I responded, Oh, okay..thank you very much, i may be able to have my afp check by post mail today as it was suppose to arrive last friday. and she said good just send it to me by email on colored copy!

Anyway, when i get home at 4pm i checked our mail box and i was lucky i got my AFP CHECK! Wow! Very smooth for me, and i sent it couple hours ago to the case officer/team. Now i am being positive that I may get my grant if not tomorrow, maybe this week! Who knows.. i am just being positive like how i had been the whole 11 months! :-)

Good luck to us all!

Hi
I didn't read all your posts but you don't have to wait the 1 year mark if you registered your relationship as de facto.
I did here in QLD and applied for my visa 6 months after. Not sure what states do the de facto registration and I don't know where you live, but you can check if your state does.

WA, SA and NT do not allow you to register your relationship

Hi Dooda, I and my husband submitted them by papers in Sydney office annd yes it is processed as well in Sydney as the Case officer/he team is in Sydney. I could have submitted my Afp check again by dropping it to the Sydney office but luckily she called me and everyone of my family here; and i was told to just send it thru email. And by the way, she called back my husband that same day (as my hubby did not picked his phone on first call). And told him as well that i only need to send my Afp check in colored copy.

What happened yesterday was just funny because the case officer called everyone, my parents in law in the house and my husband who was at work and also called me.. :-) and after that happenings i got my afp check in the afternoon. Just excitement i think that all was a bit smooth, all happened the same day. i believe i will get my result very soon. I am able to wait for 11 months, how much more the shorter time hehe...

I wish good luck for us all!
