Well, we are sitting here wondering when my wife's 820 will be granted. Being from the USA, we are hopeful it will be soon. Applied 28/6/2016, not expecting any action for some time, we were surprised by the request for medical and FBI and AFP checks February 10th. Took some time to get the FBI, what with needing to do fingerprints here, problems with Australia Post, but finally got it uploaded last week. Was equally surprised they said they didn't need a (USA) state police check as well.
However, her FBI result showed 2 arrests with NO convictions, but now they want state police check and records of prison time etc., which is insane given she never even went to court. Uploaded a statement to that effect, so no we are back to waiting.
Anyone else from the USA, how quickly are they moving given the offical time-line of 18 months, clearly they might be quicker, given we are only at 9 months.

It sounds like you might be quicker indeed.... I'm from the Netherlands and will be waiting for 15 months this weekend. Status is still 'received', no one has even looked at it yet (no news or requests so far). I don't know why mine seems to be at the back of the queue, because Netherlands is a low risk country as well.

Has the sponsor been approved yet? I logged into my Immi account to add some documents under my partner's section and found that his section states "Approved." It wouldn't allow me to add any more documents under his name. I've been told this just means they've approved him to sponsor me...but wondering if others have this on their applications?

No I just checked, I'm still able to add documents to his account. They haven't done anything yet with his page either. I really don't get why it's taking so long... just because I'm hearing from so many others that they at least hear something in the first year after applying.

Wow! That is crazy! It really makes no sense how they are doing things. Some folks are approved in 7 months while others wait a full 18 months or more. I had to meet Schedule 3 criteria, so I knew they'd look at ours much quicker due to doing fast refusals. But, I expected you to at least have your sponsor approved. Hang in there! You could find an approval with no contact at all any day. Have seen that happening many times. Did you already submit everything (medicals, PCCs, etc.)? If so, you might not get contacted at all.

Yes, I'm getting worried because I did my medical in May last year (4.5 months after applying), because the wait time would be 12-15 months they said. And I'm going overseas next month, so I'm worried my medical check will expire before I get my grant.

Have you thought about contacting them to ask? I mean, you are planning to go overseas, so it would make sense to me that you would want to contact them to ensure they know you are going offshore as to not grant your visa while you are away. ;) Perhaps that would give them a little prod at the very least. I wouldn't worry about your medicals at this point. I've noticed they don't usually ask for them to be redone. However, they might if you go offshore for a while. Hard to say. I would send an email to ask about it all. Tell them that you are concerned that your medical will be expiring soon, you need to go overseas next month, etc. Couldn't hurt, right?

Yes I'm planning to do exactly that this weekend, when I 'officially' reach 15 months waiting. They said they wouldn't give an update on progress if I haven't been waiting 15 months yet, so I'll send them an email requesting an update this weekend :)

Awesome! Let us know how it goes. I'm hoping that once you do that, you get an approval. Kind of a "wake up" call for DIBP to look at your application. ;)
