I'm wondering what your account status is? We went from 'information requested' to 'Being Assessed' as soon as I hit the submitted information button. It was only 5 days later that they approved it. However, although this was an onshore application, it was done by the Washington Embassy, who I would think have a big work load? Then again WA might have a lack of staff, but I would be asking why the delay, you have nothing to loose, though you may not get an answer.

My account says 'received'.

Yes I think mine is being processed in WA as well. I've been living in Aus for almost 4.5 years and we are building a house together, adopted dogs together, have joint bank accounts, did a lot of travelling together, have lots of shared friends etc etc. I wouldn't think my case is complicated, but who knows. It might just be a WA problem then, I guess. I hope you hear something soon! 18 months is crazy :(

We have done those things as well (minus the dogs) and just recently started a company. I think it has to do with the workload of the external agency and the fact that my partner is lebanese but i checked their website last night and saw that they hope to process 75% of 820 visas by 18 mnths and 90% by 20 mnths. I have been watching this forum since we applied and got info and contacted some ppl from here during the process and have seen ppl wait this long or longer, so while it does get frustrating lol at least we are together. We used to check our email constantly but now we just get on with things and upload when we feel we want to add something. Hang in there, you are from a low risk country and apparently those get priority so hopefully not too much longer of a wait for you and your partner.

Our app also still says 'Assessment in progress' for my partners and 'Submitted' on mine. lol

Hi Everyone

I have a question regarding form 80. Theres questiom 35 i.e have you been to Australia before?

As my wife came to australia as visitor and then applied for 820. Do we have to mention our visitor visa details in that question? Before that she never been here.

Any advisw would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It's fairly straight forward. Has she been here before? Either she's been here once, or twice? The fact she applied for a different visa after arriving, is irrelevant. :-)

Hey, just a quick update.

We applied for my Italian wife on the 13th of October after arriving on the 12th on an eVisitor. Yes controversial, I know (see above about 27 pages). Anyway, my wife was pregnant and she had our son (our 2nd child) on the 23rd of December at King Edward Memorial Hospital, Subiaco. All good. She did her medical a month ago, and that's been finalised. No further action recquired.

Her application status is marked as "received". My sponsorship as "submitted". And no, we haven't heard from a CO and don't expect to for months yet.

The other day we applied for a BVB as my wife's Italian paid maternity leave is ending at the end of April and she needs to head back to Italy for work purposes, and we wouldn't mind an Italian summer holiday either as this summer downunder has been all about babies and recovery... Also, we have to sell our house there, which will involve lots of bureaucratic wrangling and fresh coats of paint. Hopefully they give us a 6 month multiple entry BVB so my wife can come and go as she pleases. But we may be lucky to get a 3 month one. Also it's really hard to give "evidence" of the NEED for a lengthy BVB! Maybe some of you have some pointers.

Either way, hopefully we'll get a CO who will keep us informed so my wife can make sure she's back in Oz for the finalisation of the application. I expect we won't hear anything till after September, but some people have had their applications approved after only 9 months, which is freaking me out!

Anyway, that's that. We're 6 months in, so a long way to go.

I just had a call from DIBP this morning. I have a CO and she is processing my visa. Weird thing is that she was asking for documents that I had uploaded. Each time she mentioned a form, I told her exactly where to find it. She stated that she wasn't seeing a lot of the forms that I uploaded, but when I would tell her where to look, then she would find them. That makes me nervous! I wish she would have just stayed on the phone to ask me about every one, because I uploaded everything at this point. However, I think we will have to redo the police checks, as the ones that my partner and I submitted were our National Police checks that were done for our employment with the schools here. She stated that we needed to do NPCs and check the 33 box (for immigration purposes?). But my medicals are all done and cleared and everything else has been submitted. I'm in shock that they are already processing my visa application! I just received the email asking for additional documents. They are requesting an AFP for myself, my partner and my oldest son (17 yrs). The other thing they requested is form 80 for both me and my son (17). Was hoping to get away without having to fill out that monster, but now have to do it twice! LOL! That's ok. I already filled out one for me, so my son will need to do one for himself, though that won't be too hard. This is exciting, yet scary at the same time. While I know I submitted everything else, it's nerve wracking. All the "what ifs" and "did I submit enough" going through my head.

Looks like they are trying to process these a LOT faster now. So, my advice is to get everything uploaded ASAP if you haven't already!

That's exciting! When did you apply? (I'm sure I ask people that multiple times but I can never remember...).

Yesterday was two weeks since I got an email telling me they would hopefully process it in the next month so hopefully I have no more than two weeks to wait! They were waiting on "external checks".

Tomorrow will be 15 months since we applied.

I applied 5 October 2016. So it's only been 6 months for me. However, I had to meet Schedule 3 criteria (which I must have been able to do, I hope!). So they looked at mine much quicker than others, due to seeing if they would be denying it or not. But with having a CO assigned now and them asking for new AFPs and form 80, I'm taking that as a very good sign! She said she needed these forms to finish processing my visa. :D
