Well, I'm going to clean up my Form 80, start working with my son on his and then we just have to do the AFPs. My sons are supposed to go visit their dad in the US in July, so I'm really hoping they don't take too long doing external checks and we get our grant before then. I plan to have all the requested info submitted within the week (or two, depending on how long the AFP checks take). I'll upload Form 80 tonight.
I lived in Spain for three years and did a year abroad in France/Spain while I was at uni so thinking that's slowing it down...

SharKs, have you applied for BVB yet? Maybe they'll just grant your visa instead.

I emailed them on the weekend asking for an update and if they can give me an estimate on when I will be processed, and informed them of the dates that I will be away. I didn't hear back yet.

Arabella, luckily I won't need a BVB... I'm still on a 4-year business visa and allowed to travel. It will expire 2-3 months from now, and then I'll be on the BVA if my visa won't be granted before then.

Arabella, yea, that's probably what is holding it up. Fingers crossed that you hear very soon!

Sharks, ok, then you may not hear from them for a week or two. They are pretty slow at responding back to emails unless you email directly to the centre that is processing your partner visa. Here's hoping you get good news before your trip!!

So how about we applied for a BVB on Easter Saturday and I didn't even attach any docs as evidence. This arvo we were granted a 7 and half month BVB with multiple entry permission. Wow!

Gotta say, while I had my fingers crossed for 6 months, I honestly only expected 3. Good result!

Of course, now I'm thinking, hang on, maybe that means they're not thinking of finalising the application until decenmber...!

Ah well, a win is a win!

That's awesome you got such a generous BVB! I wouldn't say it means you will definitely be waiting that long at all. Hopefully, you'll get a grant soon or at least contact from DIBP. Best of luck!

Hi,

So when I sent an email on the weekend, I didn't read the automatically generated reply because I assumed it would be the same reply I got two weeks ago. Well... it wasn't. Two weeks ago the reply said I could ask for an update if I'd been waiting 15 months. So on the weekend, when I was waiting >15 months, I sent them an email, and their automated response said:

Current Stage 1 Temporary Partner (820) visa processing times
On 14 March 2017, the Department began publishing global visa and citizenship processing times. You may find the processing times for the subclass 820 visa, and all other visas, at Global visa and citizenship processing times

Please note: Visa status update requests will not be provided for applications that fall within the processing times listed.

In other words... I'm probably not getting an update after all, and I can try again in 5 months time .... because the processing times listed are 17-20 months. Great.

Sheesh! That's just crazy! Well then, I would call. Because you are asking a legitimate question and it does make a difference, as you need to be onshore for your visa grant. And that is exactly what I would tell them, too. Especially with them trying to process more of the decision ready, low risk country applications. Did you do a lot of travelling or anything like that? Isn't the Netherlands a low risk country?

My wife did the same last week, and received the same response. We have been waiting "only" 11 months, but it is still a bit of a kick in the teeth. Hoping the quota push will help us get it through faster because we are "front loaded" (all required docs / forms inc. 80 and 2 x 888, health check, police check both AFP and Vietnamese JCV), but my wife is Vietnamese, hence "high risk", so who knows.

I agree, you have a legitimate reason to be bugging them. I would ask for specifics to your situation.

Yeah, finger's crossed.

I'm currently doing the AFP check. We'd only done the Italian police check just before flying, and that is good for a year. But I figure since it looks like they'll ask us for it anyway sooner or later, I might as well punch it out now before we fly out for Italy May 10th.

We've already done our form 80, plus that other one (1221?), which is basically the same shite, when we originally applied.

So tired of feeling the need to 2nd guess the DIBP. We have kids together, both aussie citizens themselves. This should be a fait accompli. But of course, the hoops are there to be jumped through...
