Would only be right. I don't understand the 14+ months waiting when people supply everything needed for approval. I guess it really depends on which CO gets the files. It seems some COs are MUCH faster than others. Hang in there everyone! It'll come through!

If you applied when the waiting time was listed at 12-15 months, maybe file a complaint at the 15 month mark? I've seen others do that and then get their grant. I understand that the waiting time has increased; however, go by what it was when YOU applied. It's really ridiculous for people to be waiting so long when you're from a low risk country and have a decision ready application.

Just to prepared anyone making a complaint as I don't want you to get your hopes up, complaints seem to be luck of the draw too, or maybe they just got sick of them. There were a couple within the last couple of weeks that were told the ombudsman would not investigate as they go by the global processing times not what the processing times were when they applied.

Also just to let you know that if you are going to lodge a complaint with the ombudsman you need to lodge a complaint with DIBP first and give DIBP a reasonable time to respond and investigate (2 to 3 weeks is what I would be looking at).

Thanks for pointing that out. I mainly thought this would be an avenue for those waiting 15+ months already, when that was the processing time up until a few months ago (or so).

Unfortunately, the acknowledgement letter for the 820 just says refer to global processing times for processing times.

They can always try to complain, but I am just preparing them incase they get a "sorry you are still within the global processing times" response.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that.

I applied when the waiting time was between 12-15 months. When I didn't get anything on my 16th months, I emailed them asking for the reason why it has been delayed. I didn't get any reply even after 2 weeks.

Then I called them 3 days ago. And the people who answer the call told me the waiting time will keep changing month by month and I have to follow the current one published in the website and ignore the waiting time at the point of application. She said no email or call will be entertained before the application hit 20 months (current max processing time for 820).

health check

hi all,
I will be reaching to 15 months in couple weeks. I come from a high risk country and someone I know from my country got her visa after 21 months, so I am pretty much ready to wait the same time while still feel frustrated seeing someone I know got approval before me. Anyway, I am just on my way submitting more documents. They haven't asked me for police check or health check yet. However to be ready ahead I have gotten my police check and thinking about the health check now, but my partner wants me to wait until the officer asked for it. So would having the health check now be beneficial or not really. Hope someone could understand what I typed here :)
Thanks alot.

All I can think of is to try and call. I understand it's difficult when working, but maybe during a break or first thing in the morning? Where did they process your visa? Maybe email that office directly, instead of going through the website. My CO gave me her direct line when she called me asking for the remaining forms that she needed for my grant. Mine was completed in the Victoria office. I can't believe you haven't heard back yet. That's ridiculous!

I did email the office directly (three times now, twice requesting an update after I didn't receive anything).. but all three went unanswered. The last email was a week ago. I never got a direct line for a CO, all communication I had with them was the 820 grant letter. So yesterday I also sent the permanent partner visa office in Victoria a message through the website explaining my situation and asking if they can help me, since I'm not getting a response from the Perth office at all. I tried to call yesterday after work, but I was something like 87th in line and they shut before it was my turn :S. I'm not really in a position to call unless I take a day off work or something.

Hello Littlepeanut,
Same like you. I have applied more than 14 months ago and from high-risk country :) Still waiting!
Personally, I did my health check just after my application hit 12 months waiting. This is all up to you. If you feel like you should do your medicals just do it. You already in 15 months. I would not encourage you to do it if you just applied or 6 months.

Well, wish all the best! :)

May I know how much you paid for the medical check? I did my application through an agent and I asked him for the referral letter for health check. He sent me some questions to answer and then sent me the letter which I need to do health examination, x-ray and HIV test. It's $441.5 for all on BUPA website but I have been reading and everyone says they spent $350 for this. Just wondering if there is a cheaper way :)

Hello Littlpeanut,

I think I have paid around $370, included HIV test. Not definitely over $400.

Hope that would help.
