about to submit partner visa 1st stage

good morning all,

I am just trying this out to see if there is anyone with answers to some of my questions. my partner is an Australian citizen I am Scottish, I am here on a working holiday visa which expires in august this year. we have filled out 95% of the application and in the process of getting supporting documents together. I am also filling out form 80 so they don't have to come back to me for it.

In august when my WHV ends I am aware I go onto Bridging visa A. my main question is how long am I likely to be on the bridging visa for before being granted the temp partner visa?

I have both police checks from here and back home.

does anyone have a list or could write a list for me of documents to attach to help with the visa ie photos, joint lease things like that.

any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Ashleigh :)

That sounds like one of the emails you receive when they are getting ready to process the application. Hopefully it's good news!! Especially with you emailing them back that you've submitted it all and it's decision ready. I'd try to call them. Couldn't hurt.

So you guys who already been granted 820 received the same email like this?

In 5 days my application will hit 18 F MONTHS!!!

For the list of doc, go to previous page and read MarcellusF post #4255. That's pretty much everything you need.

I was on working holiday visa back in 2014. My WHV expired in Aug 2015 and I returned to Malaysia. Then I applied for visitor visa. At the end of my 3 months visitor visa, I applied for 820/801 (Dec 2015). Got BVA straight away after that.

And now waiting...

Waiting...

And waiting..

Wow so you have been a year and a half still on bridging visa?

Actually, no. Some people don't even get that and just wake up to an email saying their 820 has been granted. And SOME don't even have to wait 7 months.

Dude, call them. You gotta break their balls. They've stuffed you around.

Oh man.. I did call them but unfortunately I got no positive result.

First I emailed them (16 months) - no reply

Then I called them asking for an update after 2 weeks and they said we are not processing centre so we can't access your application to check. Plus they mentioned that department has received my email 2 weeks ago unfortunately no email or call will be answered regarding an update unless the application reach 20 months.

So what I can do now?

Because of this, I applied my BVB less than 2 weeks with the hope my 820 will be approved before I fly next week. And I haven't got my BVB yet (5 days to fly).

Hopefully they will approve my 820 instead of charging me $140 for BVB!!

I would file a complaint. Obviously, it's been 18 months. The waiting window was much shorter when you applied. Thus, I would lodge a complaint about this. Then, if you don't hear anything within 2 weeks, contact the Ombudsman with the complaint. You do have to wait for DIBP to respond to your initial complaint before you can lodge with the Ombudsman...but usually, the complaint spurs DIBP to have a look as they will want to handle the complaint quickly. Be very clear in the complaint that when you applied for the 820 visa, the waiting period was ____ to _____ months. Then, state that you have hit 18 months and still haven't gotten a decision on your visa.

Check out the 801 Waiting room thread. They discussed this very thing in there. If it were me, I would lodge a complaint.

The conspiracy theorist in me actually believes that when you apply for a bvb they automatically drop you down the list. It's like, "well let's wait till they get back before looking at this." Though in your case, admittedly, they've had plenty of time. In a month's time you'll be able to really get stroppy. It's saying 90% should be finalised within 19 months. You're from a so called low risk country, you'd be well within your rights to crack the shits at them

That's very true. I received a phone call asking for AFPs and Form 80; then, later that day received the email asking for the same things (not the full list). And I did get my grant in 7 months...However, I had to meet Schedule 3 Criteria, which resulted in them looking at my application MUCH quicker than most. That being said, I lodged the Schedule 3 Criteria back in November and heard nothing until I decided to go ahead and complete my medicals in April. I believe that is what prompted them to finish processing my application.
