Thank you. Despite few months hold back with paperworks but it was really good for us being waived with two years.

not sure how to apply for AFP check? Any idea about it?
I'm so discouraged reading everyone's updates (but still happy for everyone). I've been a quiet follower for awhile now.

I applied for 820/801 March 2016...
I uploaded every single document they required shortly thereafter... around the beginning of June 2017 I got a generic e-mail about more required documents, but to ignore it if they were already uploaded. The only thing I had to do was to obtain my medical, which I have done now two weeks ago.

I haven't even been granted my 820 yet, or been assigned a CO, or anything and hearing that the processing time has been upped for these visas to the tune of 21 months is so discouraging!

Understand your frustration. 16 May 2016 for us, no updates at all. It's rough because my partner is here on a student visa, and it doesn't expire until October 2018. Consequently we're fronting up 6.5k / trimester for a course that she actually wants to switch away from, but we are continuing with to satisfy the student visa requirements while we wait for the 820 to be processed.

The generic email sounds positive for you. At least something is happening.

Keep your head up... the new fiscal year is about to begin which means new grant quotas. Maybe they reached their limit and need to wait on grants until after July!

I've just heard crickets, and online it says the applications are viewed/processed in order in which they are received... I call BS on that, considering I know others who have applied for 820/801 well after who didn't really meet the criteria but fudged their app and were granted the 820 in 8 months (and only been together for a little over a year). It's just very discouraging, everyone has different answers. I was on a student visa when I applied for the 820/801 but it expired shortly after so was given a BVA, I just hate having to apply for a secondary visa, BVB, and pay more money when I want to travel outside of Australia! It's annoying... my total costs are mounting toward $10,000+ now for this visa.

I've read others have received the generic e-mail, too... but it doesn't mean a CO or anything, it's just an automated e-mail. Sigh. At least it's something. Fingers crossed for you and your partner.

Thanks, that's very true. Who knows... a lot of things are changing with visas lately and maybe it's just affected the whole lot of visa timings. I just feel like my whole life is on hold, sigh. Still thankful to be here though, and luckily have applied for onshore so can actually be with my partner.

I think the hardest thing has been trying to find a professional job in my career whilst on a BVB... so just discouraging!
