Hi All,

Any advice will be grateful, I applied for my partner visa 820 first stage in March 2017 and am yet to hear from Immigration, please should I be worried due to my previous visa status (I applied for refugee visa was denied).

Will appreciate any advice plus does it take this long for the first stage? Thanks

Yes, it's completely normal not to hear anything for the first year, or until your visa is finished processing. Most of the time CO's or immigration will only contact you if additional information is required. There are people who have been waiting nearly 20 months on here, the average seems to be 12-15 months.

ahh I just assumed since you were from the UK, that yours would be processed onshore since only Indonesian applicants have reported theirs processed offshore up to now. However, this is excellent news if general applications are being sent to offshore CO's. We should be seeing more early processing dates!

Yeah, I think they must just be farming out applications offshore as I have absolutely zero connection to Indonesia. Hope my speedy processing (it still grates a bit to refer to a 6 month processing as speedy but appreciate I seem to be about the luckiest one on this forum!) is just the start and the rest of you start to get your grants!

I've only been waiting 16 months, but Im from USA with a full application loaded. Don't need to add anything, and besides a generic email last year sometime saying to make sure I have everything uploaded I have heard nothing. I would think being low risk with a front loaded application, I would be close, but I see thats not the case. Now I am worried I will have to do medical over since May will be a year since.

Hi all,

Applied in March 2017 and received notice of grant for 820 yesterday. Hooray!

I had little doubt, as I've been in Australia for almost 10 years, and married to my (Australian) wife for 5.

On meeting the three year requirement, I suspect that I should be eligible for proceeding straight to an 801 visa. However, I can't find the official legislation governing the two year waiver - can someone please point me to where this information can be found (i.e., official source, not a migration agent website)?

Also - how do I go about contacting my CO? I only have her first name, employee number, and the fact she is at the Jakarta AU embassy (only auto-generated correspondence was received through my application process)?

Thanks very much for your help.

P.S. If it helps bbramham and vanilla.potato - I'm from the UK (but living in Aus) and my processing took around 11 months - but I was pretty relaxed about uploading evidence (took about 6 months to do it).
