Yeah, the waiting time depends on Immigration and there are no fixed timeframe. I submitted our application in October, it's June now and we are still waiting for the 820. We submitted everything medical, form 80, etc etc etc but haven't heard back. My wife is an university graduate so immigration can see that she can stand on her own two feet. Just have to wait. Nothing more we can do. Annoying that we have to put apply for her to travel outside Australia each time as she is on a BVA. Just pray to the lord that something comes up soon.

My wife had to forgo all graduate programmes due to not being a PR yet. She would of easily got in too, she graduated quite highly. That is an opportunity cost of around $70,000. It's tough but as long as we have each other then we'll face life together strongly.

Do you guys know what are tge conditions for bridging visa when we apply for 820 visa ? Cuz my husband really wanna work full time but the agent said it depends

The only thing it depends on is him being on a substantive visa when he applies for the 820. If he is, he'll receive a Bridging Visa A, and he'll have full work rights *once the BVA kicks in.* The BVA won't kick in until his current stay on his current visa expires.

He is on a Bridging visa bcuz he was on MRT for his student visa. So i think wen the bridging visa for 820 comes, does he have to wait for it to expire or he can just jump to the new bridging visa ? My agent said he could apply for medicare on his new BV but not sure abt working full time.

What bridging visa is he on? If bridging visa E then has to apply for work rights and can't leave the country while on it. To my knowledge the BVA will not over ride what bridging visa he is currently on - I presume E or C.

You should find out which bridging visa he is on because you need to check the conditions of the visa.

We can't tell you if he can work until we know what visa he is on.

If it is one that doesn't have work rights you can apply for working rights if you have financial hardship. They won't grant it just because he really wants to work full time. If you can and are supporting both of you they probably won't grant work rights.

You really need to see what visa he currently is on because if a bridging visa C or E they will not give you a bridging visa A after you lodge your 820.

Really ? I dont know what is his previoys bridging visa but he is allowed to work 20hrs n study at the same time. Hope everything goes fine. The agent just applied the paper application yesterday through Post ( i believe) so i will get the visa today or next week ?
