I guess I will never have my pr. :(

Hii Rimmel,
Have also been waiting for long for the 820, crossing my fingers and hoping to hear something good soon

Advice

Hi Guys, I applied for my visa in August 2017 and was asked for more information on the 27th Jan, my police check, medical and my partners passport. That was all submitted on Wednesday 7th Feb, so my application now reads Assessment in Progress.

I just wondered if anybody submitted more evidence at this stage, I had photos ready to go of the last 6 months and wondered if I should upload them still or leave it be?

Thank you for your help!

Hi everyone.
I have been following this forum for sometime now and i would like to share my journey.
My partner is Australian born and i'm from Africa. We met in Australia while i was studying. We've been together since 2013 and defacto commenced 2014. We opened a joint bank account in 2013 and we have been gathering all the other required evidence documents since 2013. So i pretty much had 95% of the checklist. I'm currently in Australia. I submitted my application through an agent (online) in June 2016. The agent attached all the information and documents i forwarded. I didn't submit or update anything else other than photos for our trip to Africa in March 2017.
19 months later, in January 2018 we got a request for update/information with the usual 28 day period for submitting. (The RFI was a strange one - it was like a cut copy and paste of the same checklist required for the visa application.) I stressed out thinking i was going to have to resubmit all the documents but my agent just gave me a list of the documents to send. So we sent through more documents that we had - active joint bank statements, stat decs from us and parents, 3 form 888, binding death nomination, more photos, my statement..etc.. I supplied AFP and my birth country police check in June 2016. But since it has expired, i will wait for the department to request for a recent one. I haven't done medical test either, my agent says i should wait.

Still waiting and get stressed when i think of it. I try not to and keep myself busy. We've held off from doing so many things as we are unsure of my future here.

In short:
June 2016: Applied 820/801 (onshore)
January 2018: Request for information

I will come back and update once the department communicates.

Just starting our journey
I am UK citizen but born in Slovakia. I met my boyfriend in March 2014 while traveling in Central America. We kind of said goodbyes after a month on road, he went back to Australia and I went back to UK.
A month later, after keeping in touch daily he decided to come over to Europe in Jun 2014 to be with me indefinitely. We have kind of complicated journey. After 5 months in Europe together, me working full time, him traveling around Europe and coming back to UK to be with me, we made decision that we going to Travel the World. We spent next 26 months on 6 continents together every single day 24/7. We both believe we in a committed relationship since November 2014 when we left UK, as we shared everything, we did not have separate budgets, we just paid as we go for everything we needed, daily life, flights, hotels. We documented all this on our application.
My boyfriend met my parents in my birth country twice back in 2014, he even stayed with them for a week without me, when I had to go back to work in Uk. I met his parents after a year and a half, we organized 3 weeks holiday in Malaysia with them and his sister with her 3 sons and family, we did stay in the same accommodation for the whole time just to know each other better.
In October 2016 we moved back to Australia. We moved in with Parents. We do not pay anything for a living, as they don't want us to pay any bills or rent. The first year in Australia I only had eVisa, I was traveling to Europe every 3 months. In October 2016 we registered our Partnership in Victoria.
We finally applied on shore on 4th January 2018, after discussing for a year if not to move back to London. We decided mainly due to my boyfriends mum health and age, to stay closer. My parents are much younger and happy to travel the distance to see us.
We explained all this in our visa application. We are together for nearly 4 years now (in March). In de facto what I believe over 3 years. But my worry is, we are not the average, fall in love, move in a couple. We not even 20 years old backpackers. We both in the late 30s. We do have shared goal in life, and its to visit every country, that's why we spend most of our relationship traveling the world (80 countries together in 4 years).
we have nearly hundred flight tickets together and too many hotel reservations, and million pictures, but no shared bills or assets.
Hopefully, that will be enough.
That's our story.

OH, MY GOD! I think I have good news! Finally, it is my time :)

Last Friday, I have called to Immigration office to get an update about my application. I have applied Visa 820 / 801 March 2016. Since then I have heard nothing. I have explained this but they said I am still on the average processing time frame.

Then, I requested an update via Immigration's website!

Today I have an email!!!
"I am writing in response to your feedback received by the Department’s Global Feedback Unit (GFU) on 9 February 2018.
... I have looked into the matter you have raised and can confirm that your application was allocated to a processing team recently and in turn was allocated to a case officer for assessment last week, on 9 February 2018. As your application has now been allocated to a case officer, an assessment of your application will be done shortly and should any further documents or information be required, you will be contacted accordingly."

So this is a good news right :) Nice to hear something from them!

Hi Nheld27.
I was also asked to submit more information but not specific documents like yours. My request for information was a cut copy paste of the visa 820/801 checklist requirement. I didn't send all the documents as i had submitted them earlier in my application in 2016. I just sent our latest joint bank statements, my partner's bank statement showing me sending money to him, stat decs, 3 x 888forms, stat dec from parents, recent photos, future travel documents etc.. I haven't submitted medical or police checks again as my agent suggested i wait for department to ask.

820 grant!

Hi all,

Thank you for all the helpful information that is being shared on this forum. I received my 820 Grant last Monday (12 Feb.), which is great news!

Just some information: I applied for the 820 visa myself (onshore, Sydney) on 12 May 2017 and received my grant exactly 9 months later and the grant notification came from the processing office in Western Australia. My application was decision ready from the day that I applied: health check completed within 2 days of application and police check (Netherlands) was front-loaded.

It is possible to receive your 820 grant well before the 20-25 months, even if your case is not processed offshore (e.g., Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur). Just hang in there!
