Good news here too!!

We applied for a BVB two weeks ago for an upcoming overseas trip. Just got a call from DIBP asking us to provide a translation of one police certificate, and then they will grant 801 (due to length of relationship) and refund fee for BVB!!

After over 19 months waiting, this is the best valentines day gift ever.

My partner who is from the UK applied for the 820 onshore Sep 16th 2017.
We have not heard anything back yet which seems to be fairly normal, based on this thread.

However I requested on the website for them to tell me where I was in the queue. Whilst they didn’t acknowledge this, they did tell me that our visa was in Jakarta for processing. I took this as good news as know a lot of the UK visas seem to have relatively quick turnarounds out of Jakarta. We have already frontloaded everything (incl police checks) except for the health check, we are tempted to lock this in though as have been reading a lot about Jakarta processed visas coming through within 6-11 months.
I would love to hear about the level of contact people have had with the Jakarta office and how long their visas took to be processed there.

Also my partners visa has said status ‘received’ ever since we lodged it. Where my sponsor application shows ‘submitted’ – is this normal?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed any light.

That seems encouraging as there are a lot of grants coming through that office. Did you have to fight for that info or were they quite forthcoming. My partner is from the UK too. We'll tick over 12 months in a few weeks and will need to supply new police checks.

We didnt have to fight at all, although it took them a few weeks to get back to us and their update was pretty loose it just said they can confirm it is with the Jakarta office and to reference the website for processing times. We used that compliant site mentioned earlier in the thread.

Since I posted my update here last week we have had a request for our health check which my partner has now done. This is the last piece of the puzzle so very interested to see how long it takes for them to turn it around. We have been together for 5 years so are hoping we get the 801 immediately.
Any advice on how to make sure this happens would be very welcome as there is very limited info on it.

I just included a note in my statement of relationship that we were requesting to be considered for 801 immediately due to length of relationship.

We got our 801 granted last night so it worked!

I'm back with amazing news! My partner's 820 visa was granted yesterday 14/2 - he only completed his medical on 12/2 and AFP certificate the week before. Only applied 13 months ago - we were thinking we were in it for the long haul and not expecting a decision this year!
Incredibly turnaround by the department, we are thrilled and glad to see that many results are coming through recently. Best of luck to anyone waiting - this thread was great support to us even though I really only lurked. I'm happy to answer questions :)

Hi Soph022,

Did you end up receiving your visa?
If so, how long after submitting the medical did you need to wait?
I ask because we know that our request has come from Jakarta too and have submitted the medical last week so trying to gauge how long we wait from here.

Thanks!

Congrats Rezzie!

Can I know from which state did u lodge your application?
Applied on by yourself?

Rezzie 02-20-2018 06:02 AM

Hydrangea, we are in Vic. We used a migration agent as we had a short time period to apply before my partner's previous visa expired and I didn't want the stress of rushing an application. He's from Brazil too - not a low risk country so we were anticipating a longer wait!

It looks like they are bulk approving many applications!!! This is positive.

Roll on the 801 applications!!

Just thought I would provide some information on our recent Visa grant for the forum's data and interest.

My partner applied onshore as a UK citizen.

Applied: 26th October 2017
Granted both 820 and 801 visa on the 21/2/2017.

We have been living together since September 2016 and in a committed relationship since the middle of 2014. About a month ago we received a request for our police clearances and medical which we promptly submitted. We provided a lot of strong evidence (used every upload slot) and submitted the visa without the need for an agent.

Time to celebrate!
