I’m waiting for my 820 to be granted (current status is further assessment after submitting police checks) but hoping to travel home to introduce my uk family and friends to our baby. I’m currently on a 457 visa with travel rights but understand I need to be onshore for 820 to be granted. Do I alert immigration of my travel plans or is it best to just wait it out and travel after it is granted. I just don’t want it to prolong it further as we have been waiting quite a while! (Not over the processing time frame though!)

Hey guys,
After 28 months waiting for my 820, last week I got straight 801!! Yes without 820 granted before that!! This is my timeline: DOL - 18 Dec 2015, Onshore, Paper application via Victoria Ofiice BVA Granted - 21 Dec 2015 More info - 21 Dec 2015 (Health Check) Then no news at all. 15 months - call them - got ignored "we are unable to give any update since your application is still within our timeline. Sent them Australian police check without them asking just to make them realise how long I have been waiting. 18 months - still no news. I call tem again and still got ignored. In fact, they cut the line because I complained a lot! Haha 23 months - Received email asking for Personal particular for character assessment and more evidence of our relationship. We have provided everything before so this time we only sent them more photograph of our activities together, joint gym membership letter etc 25 months - Finally my application is outside their timeline (24 months). Call them but the girl on the line unable to give any update. She asked me to email processing centre. Emailed them for an update. I took them 2 weeks to reply. In their reply, they acknowledge that my application is outside their timeline but "please note that each application is pocesssed on a case by case basis and some case may require further processing than other" 26 months - Request for more info (Health check, police check from Malaysia and copy of my passport because I have changed my passport before). Sent them all the details within 28 days and after 3 weeks nothing happened. 27 months - Email them again asking for and update. After 2 weeks, no reply and last week I got an email of my 801. Good luck everyone. |
Hi all - this forum has been very helpful so I wanted to share our experience to give others some hope.
We submitted a LOT of evidence with plenty of photos, joint correspondence, joint bank accounts etc. I think because we were a clear case and provided so much evidence it was very seamless. So there is hope. We are obviously beyond happy and pleased with the fast turnaround. Big thanks to all the people that provided advice on this forum. :) (I shared this on the 801 waiting room forum but thought it might be helpful here also ) |

My application is with Victoria office as well and I am on my 25th month. The latest correspondence I received was from a PIC team (Public Interest Criteria) in Victoria office which I found confusing and weird as there was a change of processing team in relation to my application. |
