Yes. We did that before the Bridging visa became active. (Actually the bridging visa never became active, the 820 was granted before the 300 expired)

You can enrol in Medicare if you live in Australia and have applied for a Permanent Resident Visa.

When can you can enrol in Medicare?
  • The date you applied for permanent residency, as an Onshore (820) applicant.
  • The date you arrived here to live, if you applied outside Australia.
An application for the subclass 300 PMV is not a permanent residency visa application. These applicants can only apply for Medicare after they apply for the 820 visa.

Thanks for your answer. So, you applied while on PMV and with the evidence that you have applied for 820? Thanks 🙂

Yes.

PMV expiry date Dec 2016.
820 applied 14 May 2016
Medicare applied, and active from May 2016.

I actually have another questions for anyone on the Forum. :)
Once I applied, I checked the Health Requirements and it says this has been covered and no need to have health checks unless they ask further. It is an standard message or this might be linked to the ones I did for PMV? Also new Police checks could be required even for places I have lived many years ago, never came back, and that were already provided during PMV300? Thanks

We did the Medical for the PMV, nothing more needed for the 820 or 801..

We did Police Checks in the Philippines for the PMV, and nothing more was needed from the Philippines for the 820 or 801. (She did not enter the Philippines again after leaving).

She did need the Australia Police check for the 820, and we did it again for the 801, although it seems it may not have been needed.

Thanks! This sounds like a good news, not to repeat all that again. :)
Hope it is my case too... :)

Hello all!

I'm just in the midst of putting together all the evidence and such for my 820. My partner is australian and im canadian.

I do have a few questions...
My partner has not updated her centrelink details to include me as a partner. Does anyone think we should change this or is it not something to bother with?

I'm also wondering if anyone can share tips on how they uploaded all the photos and copies? Can i do a word document with the pictures along with captions?

Absolutely loving all the information on here so thank you all, already!

If you are classed as single by Centrelink, who share data with immigration, you may riS k a partner visa rejection, based on not being a couple...

I would update Centrelink ASAP, and request it be backdated, as she just didn't think about it.

Just a question on the center link- myself British my partner Australian applied in January for our 820 visa via an agent - they never advised regarding center link and we both work full time so have not signed up to center link only medicare so i dont think that would apply to everyone
