We Lodged our 820 partner visa in June 2018 and my partner was asked to do a police check from the sponsorship team in December 2018 which we uploaded straight away. It has been 17 months since we lodged our partner visa and have not heard from them since then. Is anyone in a similar situation?.. is this usually normal?. I have still not been granted an 820 visa yet. Has anyone been contacted by this team previously?

Thanks
Hi there,
My case is similar:
I've applied December 28 2017 for temporary partner visa (previously on PMV) and still waiting, 23 months now.
I'm low risk country (Germany). I've received two notifications "Application in progress" on Dec 2018 and June 2019 so far.

I finally had some progress on my 820 application this week! I applied on 25 June 2018 and on 8 November a request was made for further information including my medical and police check.

Does anyone know what the process is between the 801 visa being granted and applying for permanent residence? How long must you hold your permanent partner visa before you can apply for PR, and do they request any further evidence after the 801 is granted?

Edit: After doing some research it seems you become a permanent resident on the day the 801 is granted. Does this mean you do not have to apply for PR at all? Sorry for the silly questions.

We are in the exact same situation. We applied in June 2018 and were asked for medical and police check as well. Still waiting...

Is the CO assigned for further information ? I applied 10 August 2018 and IMMI sent email saying my 820 visa in progress by 19 October 2019. No CO assign or asking AFP check yet. Let us know your progress. Thanks

Hi everybody,

I am a newbie here. I don't know if I should post it here.

I hope I could hear some of your thoughts and advices.

I have a situation at the moment on which i would also like to seek some help any suggestion/advice/info is much appreciated.

Currently I am in Australia on a Visitor visa together with our three kids. Our visa will expire on November 30, 2019.
I have a partner who is an Australian citizen. We first met 10 years ago here in Australia but he had a wife and a child.
I was trying to avoid the situation but we fell in love year 2011 and had a love child and is now 7 years of age.
His wife died year 2014 due to cancer. Then our relationship continued year 2015 up to now.
Our relationship is ongoing. We both share the financial responsibilities. Just recently the three kids were granted for citizenship by decent. We have decided that its a better future for the kids to study here and stay here.
My partner now wants to sponsor me. He don't want me to go back to my home country.
He wants us to settle here for good. The first thing that pops in my mind is that.
Since, I have just started filling up the forms I think i might be able to submit everything next week or at the end of this month.

1. What would happen if I submit my partner visa on Nov 29. 2019 or Nov 30, 2019, will BVA/BVB be granted automatically on Dec 1, 2019?
2. What if I supply the other documents next week bit by bit so that I can submit the partner visa application right away?
2. Since I have been staying here for three months, I cannot supply good financial documentation as I am not allowed to work.
Same with my sponsor (partner) cannot submit financial (payslip, bank etc) because he just started work last month. Could that risk our chances?
3. Our relationship should count from 2015 onwards if talking about the "committed to a shared life together to the exclusion
of all others" or should it be 2011 since we had our first child year 2011?

I hope to hear from someone there on this forum.

I'm not sure to be honest, as I am going through an immigration agent. However when I received the email to my agent it did have the name of someone at Home Affairs on it, as well as their position number. Would this potentially mean a CO has been assigned? The footer of the letter says "Australian Embassy, Bangkok" - I'm not from there, so I can only assume they do some of their processing from that Embassy office.

I guess it's the CO assigned asking further information. Finger crossed for your visa 😊

I applied for 820/801 in February this year (2013) and was granted the BVA which kicked in in April when my visitor visa expired. I am originally from Malaysia and did not go for the subclass300 beforehand.
I got married to my Australian husband in 2012. I was here since Feb last year, but as i came on a visitor visa, i left OZ every 3 mths (based on my ETA) till the day we applied for the 820/801.
I called up immi and they mentioned that processing time is 15-18mths from application date. So i guessed i'd only be hearing from them mid 2014.

I have been looking for a pt job/casual job but no luck so far.
My only worry is whether i will find a suitable job soon...

I guess there's really nothing we can do (since it's not within our control) except to wait patiently for the 820/801 to be processed and approved.

I always believe everything happens for a reason. So probably all this waiting is to teach me to be more patient in life (as I am a very impatient person).....meanwhile i try to enjoy life everyday and slow down a bit in life.

I do hope we all get the approval soon and good luck to us all who's in the same boat.

Cheers!

Hello,

I read your post. I am curious, why do you have to leave OZ every 3 mos? Is your period of stay valid only for 3 mos on each arrival?

Sorry for the silly question I also have that on my visa. Wondering if I should go back to my home country then go back in Australia again for a period of three months since I have multiple entries?
