Congratulations!

Hi Amor e Fé - Wonderful news. Guess you're feeling great today and it's just sinking in. Time to celebrate. 18 months is a long time, but it's only 6 months to your 801 application now... and that's going to be a bit easier. Thanks for sharing your details and timeline with us all. Cheers and good luck... enjoy your life together in Oz.

Hi all! My partner and I lodged today (I'm the sponsor, he's from France on a 457). We have been married over 3 years and he has lived here for nearly 10 years. We have basically applied now as he may like to find work in another industry so we may as well stop relying on the 457 for no reason.

We lodged a decision ready application including form 80 and all required police/health checks. I am extremely confident out application is complete.

We lodged it yesterday on paper at the office in Melbourbe and today received an email with our tax invoice and a letter acknowledging that our documents had been accepted as complete. This email was signed off by a Case Officer with a staff number. My question, is this our case officer assigned to the whole process? Should we consider this a good sign?

Not an unusual waiting time onshore, unfortunately. Average is something like 13-15 months right now. Hang in there! You're almost there!

DIBP's website still says it's average 6 months for onshore applicants from a low risk country and 8 months from high risk countries, so annoying how hard can it be to update that? It's quite a big difference between 6 months and 13-15....

They haven't updated that since I joined this forum in 2012. They would be so much better off just directing people to their embassy for current processing times (and making sure those embassies keep processing times current on their own websites) for offshore applicants.
