Congratulations!

Hi Greyang -

It's always great to hear of a same sex couple getting their visa approved. Thanks for sharing your wonderful news with us all. Enjoy a long, happy and successful life together in Oz. You are over the hardest part now. It's just waiting for the time when you can apply your for 801. Let's hope that goes as well as your 820. Cheers and warmest best wishes ...

Luckily I had an extra one sitting around, and I took a photo and e-mailed them. They granted me my temporary residency immediately after receiving!

Background: Known my wife for 15 years, but started dating long distance 4 years ago. I moved here in 2012 on a work and holiday visa and because same sex marriage isn't legal here we just registered our relationship as defacto about 3 months before applying, and applied for the 820 on shore 3 days before the work and holiday visa was set to expire. Was granted bridging visa and now finally the 820 granted

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to share my happiness with you that I was granted my 820 Partner Visa 2 hours ago!! I've been still stuck at work but I can't concentrate anymore
I'm from a 'high risk' country and I applied in January this year. It's been 9 long months and it's finally over.

I had my medical check last Thursday (!!!) and today (Monday) the Immi made my day

I'd like to wish you all good luck and patience.

I will keep my fingers crossed for all of you.

Cheers,
Adriana

Congrats & good luck!

Great news Adriana - thanks for sharing. Time to relax and celebrate a bit now, then begin your 15 month wait to apply for your 801. Best wishes to you both for a long and happy life together in Oz!

just lodged

Hi guys!

What a big job this whole thing is!
We just lodged our ap by hand in Sydney (Monday Oct 20) and in less than 24 hours i got an email acknowledging the application and a Bridging Visa A grant.

It says the bridging visa comes into effect when my e-visitor ends. Am I correct in thinking this is 3 months after I entered the country?

Also, can I apply for a tax file number before the bridging visa starts? I was hoping that I could start work immediately because well, money!
However i just read that the tfn takes 28 days?

Anybody with experience or advice on these 2 things?
