300 visa - worried that we dont have enough history to apply

Hi All,

My Fiancee and I have know each other for 3 years. I met her in 2006 when she worked with me (she was on a working visa), but at that time we were friends. When she left in 2007 and we kept in contact when she returned to Belgium (although not often).

In October 2009 we decided to start a relationship, Skype was used daily for us to communicate. We both payed for a ticket for her to come to Sydney, so she stayed with me for 3 weeks. She then returned to Belgium at the end of December.

We couldn't bare to be without each other so we both payed for a ticket for her to come again in February 2010. This time she stayed for 6 weeks.
In the middle of March just before she left we decided to get engaged. We are in love and plan to Marry.

We are applying for a Class 300 prospective marriage visa offshore (from Belgium) and I am just worried that we don't have enough history for immi to accept. I understand that you need to have at least 1 year living with each other to apply for a defacto visa, but it doesn't state that in the prospective marriage visa.

In regards to the supporting documents, i have no problems getting stat decs. from family and friends, proof of places we've visited together, photos, emails letters etc.

The supporting evidence that I don't really have financial evidence:
Shared bank accounts, sharing bills, shared responsibilities for day to day living expenses etc. Its hard to build a history when one can only stay for a 3 months on a holiday visa and not work. (will this not apply in our case?)

Can somebody with a similar experience shed some light on what our prospects are, we don't really want to shed $1700 on something that might not go through. Thank you so much

As long as you have the documents of her travels of visiting you and that you have kept in communication you have enough evidence. Skype logs and photos are a must too!! Immi wants to make sure the relationship is geniune so you have to supply enough supporting evidence.
The defacto visa is the one you have to live together for 12 months and share financial responsibilities, for subclass 300 you do not.

Thanks for the reply LoveDelight.

Just a few more questions:

1. My Fiance is back in Brussels, how does she get her stat decs verified, does she need to go to the Austalian embassy to have it verified signed etc?

2. I understand that she submits the application at the Australian Embassy/consulate in Brussells. Do i submit my part of the application her in Australia? is the fee payed in Brussells at the consulate.

Apologies as there is so much info to read at the immi website and it gets quiote confusing ...

many thanks

You have to fill out the 40SP form and along with all your stat declorations, evidence, single status, ect...You MUST mail them to her. They have to be submitted all together.

There is a checklist on the immi website that might help you out; 300-checklist. I'd search it since I am still too new to post urls.

I am currently applying for the same visa and my fiance paid the visa fee already in Australia. (I'm from the USA). I would call Immi and see what the best form of payment for you two. If you do pay for it just make sure you send the reciept of payment to her as well.

It is a good thing to ask a lot of questions and do lots of research. You don't want to leave anything out.
