I need help, im a refugee

Hi guys,

Im new on this! i need some assistance! i came to australia on a student visa in 2005. i am a Zimbabwean citizen. I left Zimbabwe because my mother was murdered and our house was burnt down. they told my mother and i they were going to execute us for being white and living on land that belonged to the african people. I was lucky i was not at home when this happened to my mum or i would not be alive today! i went to the police in Zimbabwe to report the murder. They told me that i should not interfere in the government affairs and that i was on list of people that were going to be made examples of. I ran away and came to australia.

I am currently on a temporary spouse visa however that visa has been withdrawn by my wife due to a collapse in our relationship. Now i was wondering if i could apply for a protection visa! if i go back to Zimbabwe they will kill me! i would rather kill myself than go back to be tortured and murdered like my mum! please help what can i do??? Im scared they will send me back there! My whole family has fled that country in the time i have been in Australia! i have nothing and noone left there!

The life and loss of it for you and your family and others in Zimbabwe is known of by Australian authorities and many Australians in general and I'm sorry for your own loss and suffering.

As to your visa situation, where there is going to be detailed effort needed if required in regard to seeking a Protection visa, I'd suggest you seek guidance from some sort of an agency that is involved in that nature of activity for a forum is more for general help in with mainstream visas, but some suggestions anyway:

. With the temp. spouse visa, your wife cannot withdraw it for that is something for Immigration to consider and the first thing you need to do is submit to them a Notice of Change of Circumstances, details on - Partner Visa: Onshore Temporary and Permanent (Subclasses 820 and 801) - Immigration do not automatically cancel and will take account of the circumstances of any relationship change.

. In coming to Australia on a student visa, I'd assume you would have had some support for that as there is some expense attached and so have you had contact at all with any organisation that did support you or did you study to qualify in a particular area or now have employment and if so, you should look at employer sponsorship regulations and if that is an option you could discuss that with your employer.
Employer Sponsored Workers - Workers - Visas & Immigration

If it does become necessary for you to go done the refugee path, make yourself familiar with the Immi site info - Refugee & Humanitarian - Visas & Immigration

As far as agencies go, Refugee Support and Health Services - Centre for International Mental Health lists various organisations and some of them could have immigration agents/solicitors that do work with them or they may be able to make recommendations.

George Lombard is one agent I know of who has done some work in the refugee area.

Refugees Australia - National Directory [ though an unmaintained site ] may still have some relevant organisations listed.

All the best with whatever you have to do and if you think further help can be offered, do not hesitate to ask.

im still stuck

Dear Sir,

Thank you so much for the information you have gathered for me! i really appreciate it so much!

When i came to Australia i recieved no assistance and had to gather every cent i earned to secure 2 semesters at tafe. I did not complete my studies as depression consumed me and i could continue any further!

i withdrew from my studies for financial and emotional reason and met my now wife, with whom i have separated from! after my withdrawal from i was certain that my visa was going to be cancelled on grounds of unsatisfactory results. I attempted suicide and went to hospital as i could not face the thought of having to return to Zimbabwe. i have nothing there! any family i have ever had has fled or been killed! please... im so stuck! i would rather die than return there! I can not sleep or and have nightmares every night about the thought of that place! i wish i was not born there... i sometimes wonder if god even knows of the horrors that i would face should i return!

since being married to my australian wife, i have been working unqualified but full time as the person in charge of fabrication at the workshop! i have a very good job and love all the people i work with! it is a dream come true to live free without constant fear! im tired of running away from Zimbabwe!

What should i do?
