Regional Family Sponsored Visa 475

Hi everyone...

My hubby and I have just applied for a 475 family sponsored visa online 2 days ago. All paid for and forms sent... what a rollercoaster ride it has been so far.

We are doing everything ourselves, so no immigration agent... some people think we are crazy for doing it on our own. But we decided that it looked simple enough.

Now we are officially confused... we thought you only get asked for the medicals a few months down the line but we already have the request for the medicals?

It says that we have 28 days to submit all evidence of age, work etc. etc., does that mean we have 28 days to submit our medicals as well???

It just seems like a very short amount of time they are giving us.... I dont even think we can get an appointment for the medical within the next 28 days.

Am I reading this right? Or is it just the other documents that they need within 28 days.

Also does anyone know what the current time line is for these visas.... before applying we read that its taking about a year for this visa, but we have since been told that British citizens are getting them within 3 - 6 months???

Thanks guys!!!!

I would be very surprised in deed if you had a family sponsored 475 visa processed in 3-6 months but it can depend also on the occupation involved and whether it is on the Critical Skills List.

With the request for medicals after only submitting your application two days ago, that is also most surprising and did you actually get an email from a Case Officer requesting that you do that for what does seem to happen with online applications is that a standard receipt of application email is issued and that will show words against the various documents of " required " and though that is essentially a status report, it is not to be taken that you are now required to submit those documents.

If in fact if you have been sent a very specific request from a case officer directing you to send in the medicals then you go ahead and see about appointments.
Such a request will also usually have additional information about the process, perhaps even a link to listing of medical officers.

28 days is very much a standard period for supplying all manner of information when requested and if it cannot be met because of waiting time for appointments, then you just advise your CO of that, giving date of appointment.

Thanks ....
We havent even got a case officer yet. Just a automated response email saying that payment has been received.
When I log into Status report it has a document checklist , on that checklist it says:

26/04/2010 Health requirements outstanding
26/04/2010 Medical examination required
26/04/2010 Chest X-Ray report required
26/04/2010 Chest X-Ray film required
26/04/2010 HIV blood test required

On the next page I already download PDF form to take to the appointments.

I am happy to hear that it doesnt take 3-6 months... a relief! A year sounds alot more viable!

Thanks gain

Yep, that is the standard Immi advice and is not to be taken as being requested to proceed with health/character checks.

Immi are superb at producing misleading and conflicting documents and even wording on the one document.

For instance on their Checklist you'll find reference to supplying everything possible to speed up your application or words like that near the top.
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener..._checklist.pdf

Scroll on down to Health and Character and it clearly says not to do them unless requested to do so and even then it could be taken that the online status is saying to do that!
You will get advised whe you get a Case Officer and then you'll get a request to do those.
