Working for Australian Business while Overseas

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if one would need a valid Australian visa with work rights to work for an Australian business while on a trip overseas (1-1.5 months)? The payments would be processed through an Australian bank to my Australian bank account.

Any pointers as to what the rules and regulations are around that? Would this affect the situation with taxation in any way (i.e. are the taxes then paid in Australia)?

Cheers,

So with an Australian bank account already, can it be assumed you are an Australian citizen or PR.
If yes, you do not need an Australian visa to leave Australia unless as a PR you have been here over five years and if so, it'll need to be a RRV - Returning Residents - Visas & Immigration

I'd expect you would need a visa for the country where you will be working and something you would expect the company to advise on as well as any taxation liabilities for that country.

Australian citizens/PRs are liable in Australia for tax on all earnings and there are credit allowances for taxes paid to other countries, details on Australian Taxation Office Homepage

I am actually on the working holiday visa at the moment (which expires quite soon) and I don't have a PR or a citizenship. So my question is whether a valid Australian visa would be required to work for an Australian business from another country.

Any ideas as to where I could look for information on this and if it's the Immi that would need to ask this?

Well, that information does help!
Your WHV will allow you to leave and re-enter Australia up until it's expiry date.
If you are outside of Australia, it'll still be the regulations, visa and taxation of where you're going to be working that'll apply and as for info on that you need to start with the other country if the employer is not much help.

As for money being paid into an Australian bank account, once your WHV expires and if you're still abroad you can do international transfers and have a chat with the bank re what they may call their International Banking Number [ IBN or IBAN ] or Swift Code you'll need in addition to your bank account ID to facilitate that, some banks having it possible that you can do transfers online yourself but that'll also depend on the set up for where you want to transfer funds to.

If your WHV expires and you're not eligible for a second WHV and want to return to Australia, unless the employer is eligible and makes an offer re employer sponsorship, you'll be left looking at a visitor visa or ETA.

What you'll be doing overseas is nought to do with Immi unless they thought you had been up to something that they may refuse you re-entry on and so if coming back on another visa after your WHV, you expect to be asked the question of why you left early and have come back.

For my 476 visa, all documents were met in 7th may but still waiting for the grant. If you have got yours, how long did it take?
Thanks and keep me update.
