Visa 175 - Partner English language Ability

Hi,

I want to claim points for my Partner(secondary applicant) also to get 120 points for visa category 175 and I have a question.

What should be the IELTS score of the partner to claim points for partner also ? Its a little confusing because the Australian visa website says 4.5 score for secondary applicant but however I am not clear as to how much is the minimum IELTS required if I need to claim points for Partner(secondary applicant)

Thanks

You do not get additional points for a partner having a particular IELTS score.
The Immi website indicates a score of 4.5 needed or otherwise a secondary visa payment may be required, that being a charge to contribute to english lessons in Australia for any successful secondary applicant who does not have the functional level of english which is the 4.5 .

There are only 5 points available for a partner where the partner has had qualifications assessed for an occupation on SOL.

I am also applying for GSM 175. My spouse does not have IELTS score right now. At what stage do we need to show IELTS score for spouse ?

Is there any way to skip the IELTS test to prove english proficiency?

Thank you .

In order to claim points for your partner they will need to meet a range of requirements, including:

age
English language
qualifications
nominated occupation
recent work experience
suitable skills assessment

Your partner will need to evidence a minimum of competent English (IELTS 6 or higher in all four testing components).

At some stage of the assessment process you'll be requested for rvidence.
