student visa after overstayed in nz

is it possible to get a student visa after overstayed in nz for 5 years?i went home on my own will 6 months ago and now i really want to study in australia.do u think its possible cos i heard that nz and australia have the same link or share databases.

It is not just Australia and NZ that share visas/immigration data but you'll find many countries are connected to a global data system.
Five years is a huge overstay and one that you would not score any good credit for.
If the NZ immigration have entered details of your overstay into the database, it is something that could well see you refused entry to other countries including Australia for just like having a bad credit rating, you would now be highly rated as a likely overstayer.

It may even be that you could have a visa granted if eligible and then on arrival, a check at immigration could see you refused entry.
