The way I presented a proof of my wife contacting me via SMS was to take a picture of my phone showing some of these messages. Not sure how DIMIA saw it but it seems to have been sufficient.
Hi Dexter..

I managed to give a few printouts of emails and our phone logs. But the phone picture is a good idea.. wish i had known that.. would have definitely done that..

Do you know in how many days do they usually give the application number or anything of that sort? I cannot go there in person, coz the embassy is very far from where I am located. I shall wait for a few more days and if I still do not get the file number, then may be i'll give them a call and try to find out something if I can.

Will keep everyone posted..

Thanks..

Hi again,

If they have charged your credit card, then they should be assigning you a CO soon, since it indicates to me that your application has at least been looked at by someone with authority to do so.

They should be contacting you, either by e-mail or post, with an official confirmation that your application has been received and that you have a CO assigned to your case. Exactly when this happens depends on the workload of the particular office you sent it to, so it's best to call them and ask.

From you what you have said, you may have all the documents that you are waiting for by the time you are assigned a CO, so it may be best to just wait until that time and send everything all at once. And if you do get a notification from DIAc before you get the docs back, I'm sure a quick call to your assigned CO to let them know the docs will all be sent when you get them will be fine. Applicatons are processed in stages, so they will probably not need to look at those things until further down the line.

Question - I am collecting Police Clearance Certificates right now - I have the FBI PCC, a local police station PCC and also the state PCC for the state I currently am residing in. However, in 2006, I was in another state (NJ) for about 4 and a half months.. will I require a state PCC from NJ too ?

It does seem the USA do have a pretty extensive requirement, stating you should have reports from each city, state, county etc.

Seems lucky they do not want the DEA and NCIS, the state highway patrol and if you were close to the border, something from the mounties too!
Ah well, chin up and you're just about there it'd seem.

It states every city, state, county of residence in the last 12 months.. i was in NJ in 2006. I think I wont need the NJ PCC.. my current state should suffice. I shall try to get the NJ clearance too, but I think it takes time. Will find out. Thanks Wanderer..

Annika,

If you have access to the Net get Skype and talk with your partner for free and you can also see each other. I am always surprised at how many people don't know about or use Skype. Check it out. You can also print and copy all the call logs.

Hi Todd & Emma..

We are aware of Skype, but since I am in US and he is in Australia (east coast), our timings never match, coz to use skype, you need to be in front of your machine (atleast one person) and by the time I get off from work, he already starts his. Weekends are the only times when we need to coordinate and come online, but we both are the kinds who like to just pick up our phones and call the other person whenever we feel like talking. Infact, to see someone, you dont even need to login into skpye, most of the email accounts now allow you to video chat. But the timings just arent easy... arrrgh...!
