457 to 187(RSMS)

Hi Guys

I'm working in Regional Side as a Cafe Restaurant Manager under the 457 Visa since July 2013.
Is it possible to change 457 to 187(RSMS) what are the requirements of this switch?
Do I have to get IELTS score to apply RSMS?Is there any exception for IELTS because I didn't try before IELTS?
How long does it take visa process?

Regards

Have you read the DIBP website information about the 187? The information you've requested is there: Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa (subclass 187)

If you don't have 2 years on a 457, then you'd need to apply under the Direct Entry stream.

You need IELTS regardless of whether you have 2 years on a 457 or not, unless you have a passport from one of the countries they list (UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Rep of Ireland) or have completed at least five years of full time study in a secondary and/or higher education institution where all of the tuition was delivered in English

Hi Maggie,

I am on a 457 visa and the company gave me a go signal to move on with my PR application through RSMS Direct Entry Stream (provided that I fund my own visa fees etc).

With this, do I still need to submit an EOI indicating RSMS for the visa type?

Do you have the steps and websites to go to use in the application? Thanks!

As far as I know, you don't need to submit an EOI (I think this would only apply if you didn't already have a sponsor). The process is outlined on the DIBP website: Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa (subclass 187)

My employer's Standard Business Sponsorship approval has expired in 2012. Now I am more than 2 years with my employer on 457. Can I be nominated under RSMS 187 Transition stream despite my employer's SBS has expired while I was on 457? Is a valid SBS needed for RSMS 187 TRTS?

I'm not sure, so it may be best to speak with a migration agent. Here's a post Mark Northam (migration agent) made recently on a similar question related to 457 to 186 visa: http://www.australiaforum.com/545425-post3298.html

If you want to check with Mark, you could post your question in the Ask Mark! thread at the top of the forum.

You must have been working with your RSMS sponsor as a sc. 457 visa holder for 2 years in the 3 years prior to making the application.

The sponsor does not need to have a current SBS, but he must have and continue to meet his SBS training benchmarks.
