Going to Australia so see family for 12months, But I want to work.?

Hi,

I'm planning on going to australia soon, for 12 months.
I have an auntie over there who is going to let me stay with her. I'm gonna plan on working when I get over there, so I can obviously live etc. I hear that I can get a 12 month working visa if im between 18 - 31 for 12 months? if so, can I get an extension if I want to stay longer?

I'm from South Africa but have english family, So I have a duel passport for SA and UK.

Advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

There are WHV for holders of passports from the UK but not SA.
If by dual [duel] you mean you have a separate British passport as against a right of entry for the UK on your SA one, you can apply using your British passport.
Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417)
On a WHV, if you do three months regional work of a seasonal or other nature or even WWOOF Australia , that does qualify for a second WHV to be applied for.

Alternately, you can look to student visas or working visas if eligible
Workers - Visas & Immigration and if you do not have a UK passport, that's what you'll need to do for working though a tourist visa does allow wwoofing.

Sorry for the late reply.

I'm classed as british, so I don't think I would have a problem there.
I have an english Passport, but born in SA.

Basiclly, I want to go over there to stay with family, get a job, so I can live.
I don't want to travel all over australia. If I get a work and Holiday Visa, can I only stay in a certain job for so long? and if so... If I want to stay after the 12months, can I apply for an extension and stay for longer?

The WHV is your most certain route and it does have a restriction re working for one employer for only a maximum of six months.
If you have skills and Auntie has a job lined up for you, an employer sponsor visa may be an option.
