Does pregnancy affect processing of Visa 885 application

I have applied for Permanent Residency (Visa 885). After an years wait finally have a case officer allocated. But last week I found out that my wife is pregnant and the case officer has now advised me to submit an additional 1022 form for change in circumstance.

Will the processing be delayed until the birth of the child or it will continue as it would have otherwise??

Case Officers would be obliged to continue with processing of your application but they cannot add your expected child to the visa.

In one way it would be good if the processing could be delayed long enough so you had the baby before granting and then your baby would be added to your visa.
If baby is born after the visa is granted, you need to apply for a child visa and that's another $2525 unfortunately.

Best wishes and hope all works out well.

Thanks for the information Wanderer, but I am confused with your reply.

I was under the impression that if we (me and my wife) get our PR before the birth of our child then our child is australian citizen by birth.

So what is the additional expense you are inferring to in the reply below ($2525)??

If you were citizens and had a baby, the baby is then an Australian citizen by birth but not when you hold permanent residency.
You can check citizenship eligibility @ Australian Citizenship – Becoming an Australian Citizen

The $2525 is the cost of a child visa.
