PMV to 820/801 - are we leaving it too late?

Hi there, I have read a few threads but cant seem to find how close to the end of their PMV did they apply for 820/801?

My (now) husband's PMV expires on the 1st Feb 2013 (a Saturday) and we have been busy getting together evidence from the beginning of our relationship... We got married in November, returned from our honeymoon in December, went intertsate for Christmas... tomorrow is January 1st!... and 1st of Feb is fast approaching and its making us nervous!

A few questions that are worrying me most....
***We plan to hand in the application in person (or drop-box, whatever) in the Perth office. As we both get paid monthly, we plan to do this on the 20th January to cover the costs in one hit.
Is this cutting it too close to the end of the PMV?
***Will he receive his briding visa within a few days of dropping the application off? Then will he get his 820 soon after that?
***We carried around a new(ish) UK police check while travelling for our honeymoon as husband has a minor police record - we planned to hand this in just in case they wanted to see it. In our travels we seem to have lost in in between arriving home and unpacking! Can we apply for the visa and tell them the UK police check is on its way? Would that hold up the receiving/granting of his bridging visa??

If anyone knows, please let me know!
And, happy new year to all!!

You can do the application online now if you want to go that way and you will get the bridging visa straight away.

If you have a credit card you can just put it on the credit card and usually you don't have to pay for it until atleast 2 weeks (depending where you are in the credit card bill).

Otherwise it can take up to 10 days for it to be processed so you should be fine.

I have heard the some people that go from 300 to 820 get their 820 within a few days of submitting it but then some take a couple of weeks. They will put him on a BVA until they approve the 820.

Most of the time they do not require police checks and medicals when you are going from a 300 to a 820. If they do require them they will ask for them but I have not seen anyone yet been asked for them that has come from the 300.

Hi Mish - thanks for the reply.
We cant apply online - our 'home' computer is an ipad - and documents etc are tricky/impossible to attach from the ipad....
Good idea with the Credit Card though...
OK great - I'm just worried that they will receive his application, see that we have a few things 'on the way' (police check) and not accept the application until we give them..... technically all they need is the application forms and payment for it to be officially 'lodged' I would think....
Ergh looks like we will have to go through the tedious process of getting another UK police check - the most annoying part of our application...

You are coming from a pmv so I would not worry about getting one. I believe you do not need new police checks when coming from a pmv and if they need it they will ask - will save you the expense.

They will accept it as long as application form and payment but you need evidence. People here have been rejected when they were told that the case officer would ask for evidence.

You'll be fine - 300 to 820 is pretty simple as Mish said. They likely won't require another police check.

Depends on if you are going straight 820 or if you are going 300 to 820.

300 to 820 will be within a few days or weeks.

820 is currently being quoted at 12-18 months.

The acknowledgement letter should tell you the timeframe to expect.

Kobo seems to think we need to lodge an Australian police report when we lodge our 820 after marriage in march on omv 300). He thinks this because his mate lodged one when he did same thing after his marriage. Is he correct?
