885 Australian work experience job verification.

Hey Wanderer...

I have also applied for a visa 885 and claimed the extra 10 points Australian work experience. I have been working for this company for about 2.5 years now and my duties are constantly changing moving around different departments of the company under different departmental managers and supervisors.
How is the Australian work experience job verification usually/commonly done? Do they send emails to the manager(s)? Call them?
Or physical visit?
If they need to call/email/ or do physical visits...why did they ask for a reference in the first place? It all sounds like they are wasting time, imagine if they have to call or visit the managers of all the applicants? No wander, they are taking 3 years to process one application. :-(

My application has been assigned to a case officer for a while now but so far none of the above has happened. Well, the manager who wrote my reference hasn't told me anything yet, and I am sure he would if it happens.
When are they most likely to contact the manager(s)? And what sort of questions would they ask?

I just don't see the point in wasting time to visit the managers or to call them if the applicant has provided all the documents required ( Letter, contract, group certificate, tax return and you name it)...They are wasting time when thousands of applicants are waiting for a decision to be made on their application.
I sound so bitter, I am not just annoyed that they take years to process one little application because they are wasting time doing unnecessary things.

Thanks in advance for replying.

Jade P

You should see if you can get a secondment to Immi Jade and then you could see what means they use for I do not work there but have heard of them taking different measures.
And I imagine it is horses for courses and checking will to some extent depend on companies involved and of course a reference presented in the first place.
A secondment would also no doubt having you seeing significant variation in what COs do deal with.
One poster here was sweating some for he had apparently been one of a number of different " employees " getting voluntary experience at the same place and something like that could look a little suspicious and given a few investigations into student visa practices I can imagine there could be suspect practices about.

Of all those thousands of applications they do only take so many in one given year, it being called balanced immigration and that is part of the reason for the timeframe on visa consideration, your one little application being just one of hundreds of thousands.
