6 months for defacto visa

Hey there

We handed in our defacto visa into the adelaide office 7 weeks ago and they said at the time it would be 6-8 weeks. We havent heard from them so gave them a call today and was told our visa hasn't reached the early stages yet and will be 6 months!!

They asked if we had all the medicals/police clearences and all info in the application, we told them we did, and they said if thats all good, once a case officer has looked at the application they will either send us the visa or ask for more information!! They said theres a huge backlog of cases and could be awhile!!

Just wondering if this has been what other people have been told??

We want to move into another place which we dont want to do into the visa comes and my british partner has a steady full time job, but they wont send him off for courses etc for the job until the visa is approved.

We have all the info there and everything, have been in defacto for 18 months and together for 4 years!! So fustruting!!

Whats everyone else been told or know??

Thanks all
Sal

There were a few people applying late May and during June that posted re having been told not much would likely happen until July as the annual budgetted number had been reached or they were close to it.
Whoever told you 6-8 weeks was however possibly misleading you a bit as though someone could get lucky to achieve that, somewhere mid range of 6w to 6m is more realistic and Client Service Charter is a guide.
