Which dependent visa do you mean and tourist visas usually have a No Further Stay condition on them which will stop you applying for another visa.
I'll move this to the Visas & Immigration section.

hi please confirm first about your tourist visa when you get......actually when you will get the tourist visa at the time on your visa a condition will be set about " no further stay "....So as per this condition you can not apply your dependent visa from Australia on the tourist visa.....So kindly remember this & read the condition when you get your visa.....

Regards,

Hi Anubha,

If they have PR, you may be able to add yourself as a dependent on their visa. What kind of visa does your partner have?

Otherwise, you could get a prospective marriage visa (fiance visa) which you apply for in your own country and once granted, you have 9 months within which you have to get married and apply for a spouse visa.

Hi again,

From what I've seen on the DIAC site, most visas that allow dependent spouses/ partners to be addedd on give the spouse full work and study rights.

If you are still in doubt I suggest you call the nearest Australian Embassy and ask them. Or get your partner to call DIAC in Australia to make sure.

More than one post!!!!!!!

You will not be able to apply for a partner visa if you are in Australia on a tourist visa.
It sounds from the information you have posted that you ought to apply for the Prospective Marriage Visa which is for going to Australia, getting married and then you can apply for the spouse visa.
You can not get a dependents visa after someone has already ben granted a visa.
Once on a PMV you can work.
Please do not start up multiple posts about the same subject again.
