Unhappy Am I missing something???

Hi everyone.

My husband's entire immediate family are Australian citizens but we are struggling to get a visa!!!!

My husbands parents have been Australian citizens for 4 years now and his only sibling, his sister and her daughter are citizens for a few months now. My husband lived, worked and studied in Oz for 3 years but that was about 7 years ago.

We have applied for a Family sponsored 475 visa but we are on the old SOL list, not the new one. And thanks to the new priority list we have been told that its probably going to take years to get a visa, if at all.

We need to get there soon as his parents are retiring and we want to be there for them to help take care of them.

I just dont get it though..... why is it so hard... surely the fact that his entire family are citizens means it should be easier?????

Am I missing something?

Help please....

Unfortunately with skilled visas it is a case of a lot more people wanting to immigrate than what the numbers the government set are on an annual basis.
Within the allocated numbers they obviously want to have the skills most identified as being in demand and thus the review of the regulations that has occurred in the past 12 months or so, the GFC also having an effect.
It might be best if his family members can do some job scouting for him and see if employer sponsorship is a possibility but that is also not so easy unless he has an occupation in extra high demand.

Thanks... after researching all day I have worked out that I have to find an employer to sponsor us, not going to be easy as my hubby is in IT... not a huge demand.
Otherwise we just sit and wait for our visa to eventualy reach the top of the pile... have been told it could years.......
