Reasons for a 485 being rejected?

Both my housemate and I are applying for the 485, and he had said to me that an architect going for this visa at his work was rejected. I had the impression from him that it got rejected randomly. In other words, there are too many people applying and so they decide to reject your application even though you had everything in order.

Is this an accurate assessment of how things are at the moment? I was under the impression that because I had studied for more than 2 years in Australia and have all my ducks in a row with regards to my visa application that I should be fine.

Should I be worrying?

I have not heard of them making random rejections and would be surprised if it would occur for a 485 visa for one thing they are for is to allow people who have studied here to allow people to get employment/experience.

One of the requirements is that a persons qualifications need to be assessed for occupations on the SOL and even with the new regulations/new SOL there are transitional arrangements for students so in some cases the old SOL is still applicable.

With new regulations there has also been provision for a capping of some applications because of limited occupational demand but again, that is more for PR applications.
