tourist visa on a pending spouse visa? HELP!!

hey,

im a very confused person at this point. i need some information on the tourist visa on a pending spouse visa.

i spoke to my CO and she said, it should be alright to apply for this, although i still have a few doubts on how it will go.

i would like to know if i need a return air ticket, or do i have to show that i have an onward destination within 3 months. i plan on visiting Malaysia, thus want to attain a multiple entry into Australia so i can stay there till feb.

i want to be in Australia for my husbands birthday and mine which are in December and January.

how simple is it to attain this visa? and what are my chances of it getting rejected? i have all the proof, financial statements and letters from him and me (stating my purpose of visit).

i need urgent help and some positive feed back as i feel like im stuck, and frustrated.

Other people have done what you're considering and though every visa application is considered on its merits, if there's no particular reason for you to be refused, it should be OK.
You'll not necessarily need a return ticket and if that is queried you can always say you're waiting on the spouse visa and would determine where you would fly out to, to have it granted.
airasia do have cheap flights from Australia to KL so if you're coming from somewhere else that is more reason to have a one way ticket.
If you're from a country where you can submit an online application, it is as simple as applying online though if not, it'll mean a paper application and there are local requirements in some countries that could see it taking longer.
Edit: OK, Kenya and a paper application but you should still be OK and with the spouse application in April, seeing you have a CO and if it was a complete application, you may not be so far off from having the application finalised anyway and it should hopefully be done before December but see if you can get a six months tourist visa to cover you for up to January and multiple entry if you go ahead to apply.
