overstayed visa in US , applying for PR

Do you know of anyone who had overstayed visa in other country but still was able to get PR. My spouse has overstayed visa and we are thinking of applying for PR in Australia. Please share your experiences.

Immigration departments of different countries do have links to oneanother but where exclusionsare put on people because of overstaying a visa, that does not necessarily count for when people apply for PR visas.
