Dual Country Defacto Partner Visas

I was wondering if anyone knew if it is possible for my Canadian defacto partner to apply for a partner visa in Australia and for me to also apply for a defacto partner visa for Canada enabling us to both have residency in each others country in the event we need to move back and forth between country's for extended periods of time?

Your defacto can apply for an Australian visa and granting or not will of course be dependent on him meeting eligibility requirements and likewise you as a sponsor.
As for the reverse with Canada, you'd need to check Canadian regulations but it is really nothing to do with Australia.
