Smile Visa granted - Application Details

I'd like to say a BIG THANKYOU to Wanderer and everyone else on this forum because your inputs helped me immensely to put up a complete application.

I have updated the visa timeline thread too, but just wanted to give some more details about my application, just in case it helps anyone else.

It took me around 3 weeks to put together my application. The biggest challenge was to show a genuine and continuing relationship, because we were married in December 2009 and my husband had to leave 15 days after the wedding to join back his work in Australia. Also, I had physically met my husband only 15 days before the wedding, though we were in touch over internet the last year.

I had a covering letter that mentioned all the documents I had attached with the application, as well as tentative dates for the ones awaited. I had attached around 80 photographs (wedding, family get togethers), 2 on each A4 size paper, describing events in the photograph in 1-2 lines. 5 declarations (2 from my husband's friends in Australia, 1 from a friend in India, and 2 from our mothers). Since India does not have any form similar to the form 888, I created a kind of template for the Indian declarations similar to the form 888, so everyone had the same format, but their own matter. Print outs of our important emails(from the time we met - till date, approx 2 years) as well as snapshots of our inbox, and our long distance phone bills, with calls to each other highlighted. On every new set of evidence, I had a small post-it note, specifying what it was. In our declarations, we explained why we have been together for only a few days in detail. Our declarations were about 2 pages each. Credit card bills with gifts given to each other highlighted. Greeting cards exchanged (without envelopes) were also included in the application.

Also, I was planning to send in my papers to the embassy by end of May 2010 and so had done my medicals on 18 May 2010, so that they would also reach the embassy around the same time that I sent in my papers. But unfortunately, the documents that my husband mailed in from Australia were lost twice (once by Australia Post and then the second time, DHL delivered it to the wrong address), so by the time I received his documents, it was end of June. My medicals reached the embassy in the first week of June 2010 and my papers reached the embassy on 7 July 2010, but thankfully, they could locate my medicals.
