Prospective Marriage Visa Checklist

Hi All,

I have a question regarding the Prospective Marriage Visa Checklist. As my boyfriend and I are having to spend time apart for the next six months (due to not being able to get another visa for him to stay here with me) we have decided that we are going to go down the Prospective Marriage Visa pathway.

We haven't actually been together for 12 months but we have been together for 6 months (the time he stayed here on a tourist visa), we want to be together as soon as possible but due with me having to finish University and get a job, we're having to wait and put things on hold before we go ahead.

My question is about during the time we spend apart, we're keeping in contact by making phone calls, email and skype. The question I have is whether Skype calls (as in skype to skype) are recognized as a communication tool. A friend was telling me that only paid Skype calls would be recognized for the checklist of evidence for how we maintained our relationship over the time we spent apart. But frankly, it's a lot cheaper when we just do Skype calls (skype to skype), no one has to pay anything and I have even kept the log of the duration and date of all our skype calls.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ashley

Your plan sounds good :-)

Of course free Skype calls are as valid a proof of your communication as paid calls! Do a print out of the list showing the times and dates and submit that. Immigration are not interested to see whether you paid for your calls or did it free!!

Thank you for your quick reply, Skydancer

I was thinking on the right track then. I will just make sure to keep the log of all our Skype calls till we can submit our application.

I have just one more question, my boyfriend and also communicate via email, are we supposed to keep all our emails and submit them with our application?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ashley,

You need not send them all your emails, just a few of them, and you can also search in your email inbox by your boyfriend's name and send them a snapshot of that search.

Thanks,
Annikka

Hi Annikka,

Thank you for your quick reply. That makes it easy then. I was afraid that I was going to have to send in a stack of all our emails.

Thanks again,
Ashley.
