If you have a visa and are leaving on the day it expires, you can go to wherever you have the flight booked to.
If you leave after the expiry date for some reason, you'll likely have a record put against your passport number but still be allowed to leave if it is only a day or so after expiry date.

i understand in what you are saying but it does not answer my question in which i asked. I have nowhere to stay on my return to the UK would the immigration board still send me back even though i have nowhere to go and live in the UK.

Dear Slave Kajira (scary sounding name - I hope you are nobody's slave!!)

The immigration department would not care about whether or not you have a place to stay in the UK.

Do you have a UK passport? You could surely find a place with a friend or in a hostel.

Wish you all the best...

If you are a UK citizen, what you arrange to do in the UK is absolutely nothing to do with Immi of Australia.
It would help you with answers if you attempt to give greater detail and a clear question to start with.
