There are local requirements in India that apparently make it difficult for Indians to get tourist visas and you had best check with the AHC over there.
It may be best that you look at a Prospective Marriage Visa, details you can find via Migrants - Visas & Immigration
Once in Australia on a family TR/PR, aside from any registration requirements you are unrestricted in seeking work.

Hi BBKutty!

Many young men in India have their tourist visa applications rejected.

An exact reason would not be given, but basically it would be in cases where you do not have enough incentive to return home and/or you do not have enough assets and bank balance. What exactly is the minimum needed, is unclear and anyone's guess. It may be arbitrary.

You could try to get someone in Australia to sponsor your tourist visa. Again, it is not certain that it would be successful.

As Wanderer suggests, look into the Prospective Marriage Visa. Info for the various kinds of visas to Australia on this link:

Best of luck!

Thank u for ur prompt reply friends.

I would like to know how long it will take to get Prospective Marriage Visa and wat r the neccesary docs I need to have to apply for this Visa?

Do i need to apply for this from my end or she needs to raise the request? Also currently she is unemployed...... will it create any probs for this request?

If so, after joining a new job, how long she should wait to apply for this Visa? Is there any minimum requirement needed like she needs to have this much fund or something else?

Awaiting for ur reply....................

BB, if she has no funds and is unemployed, you will be asked to provide an Assurance of Support. This can be from any of her friends or relatives who are citizens resident in Australia. It is not too hard to get. Basically, the assurer must guarantee that for the first 2 years that you are in Australia, they would support you in case you can't support yourself financially. I also had to get an AOS for my Indian husband's application.

Please ask your girlfriend, and you too, to read carefully through the information on the links we gave you, especially the guides for the visa you are applying for.

It needs to be submitted from your side, in Delhi.

Currently, the application process takes 5 months from date of lodging to getting the visa decision.

After reading the info, you will be sure to have more questions and feel free to ask here on this forum.
