Question Can I apply for SKILLED MIGRANT VISA (subclass 176) without recent work?

Dear forum mates,

I recently resigned from my job as an IT consultant in a bank last month. I already got my IELTS results and ACS assessment and ready for VISA application.

This is the only time I got to process my VISA application. However, I realized that one of the requirements is a need for recent work experience. Can I still submit my application (even without current work) or there is a big chance my application will get rejected?

From the eligibility section link for the visa, a click on recent experience in the table will show you it is a requirement of 12 months within the last 24.
You may also find it difficult for a while to lodge a 176 visa as most if not all states [ NSW perhaps an exception ] have sponsorships closed while they are getting State Migration Plans in order.
Have a look at information in the What's New Link via Visa Options – Professionals and other Skilled Migrants – Workers – Visas & Immigration
If you have family and are considering family sponsorship, that's different.

Thanks for the swift response, wanderer. Based on my understanding on this, "12 months within the last 24" means that I have work for at least 12 months (which I have with my previous company) but it does not necessarily mean that I should have work CURRENTLY (1 month).

Thanks for the heads up but I am applying for a relative-sponsored VISA.
